The staff is really friendly: they do remind me on a couple of grandparents who want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. After traveling 3 weeks through Ecuador this place has by far the nicest rooms we have seen. They are spacious, new and very nice decorated providing all facilities you need.
The owner of the hotel provided dinner in the evening which was really good at a very fair price. Communication was a bit hard because they don't speak English very well, but the owners are very open and willing to help.

The Vaquero lodge offers better views and tranquility than others in the village due to its location. The room was comfortable and the shower was hot. The hammocks outside the room were nice. The family that runs it is generous and kind.

Definitely the owners, patricia and Jose, and the staff were the highlight of our stay. For any given question, problem or ask they were always promptly ready to help with anything.
The second greatest highlight was the food — it was really good too!

The most welcoming and friendly family Hostal in a beautiful setting overlooking mountains and canyons. Beautiful breakfast and home made dinner included. Outdoor seating on the hillside behind the hostel for even better views.
We had a double room for a couple.

The host is very kind and helpful. She did her best to make us feel comfortable and happy. There’s several board games and a nice fireplace to rest by after a long hike. Also the food was very delicious and the portions so big that we couldn’t finish. We loved the atmosphere so much that we stayed another day. Also the women there runs the place by herself which is pretty cool and something to support.

One of the best stays you'll have in Ecuador. The cottage offers incredible comfort, is tastefully decorated, working hot shower, the beddings, furniture and decorations are first class, the balcony offers unparalleled views of the valley. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful. The property grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The food is delicious and lastly the atmosphere is social particularly at the communal meals.

Hostal Taita Cristobal is an absolute gem. The staff, quality of the accommodation and location was second to none. The food for dinner and breakfast was delicious and filling. As an expat living in Quito I look forward to going back to Hostal Taita Cristobal. I would highly recommend to any travellers completing the Quilotoa Loop.
