During my trip to Puerto Plata, I stayed at four different resorts, and Emotions All Inclusive Puerto Plata was by far the best in terms of comfort, amenities, and overall experience.
The beds were the most comfortable I encountered during my stay in the area. After long days of exploring, I truly appreciated being able to sink into a plush, cozy bed and get a great night’s sleep—something I can’t say about the other places I stayed.
The amenities at this resort were top-notch. From the variety of pools (including the exclusive adults-only section with a cold tub and bar) to the well-maintained gym and incredible 24-hour room service, Emotions made sure every guest had everything they needed for a relaxing getaway. The coffee bar was another highlight—serving some of the best coffee I had in the Dominican Republic, made from rich, flavorful beans and expertly prepared.
And then there’s the beach—absolutely stunning! Of all the resorts I visited in Puerto Plata, this one had the prettiest beachfront. The sand was soft, the water was clear, and the overall atmosphere was perfect for relaxation.
The staff was incredible, always going out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Whether it was check-in, dining, or housekeeping, everyone was friendly and helpful.
If you're looking for comfort, quality amenities, and a beautiful beach, this is the resort to choose. I only wish I had spent my entire trip here instead of hopping between different places! Highly recommend!

Enjoyed our very brief time there, 2 days only.
Enjoyed our very brief time there, 2 days only. Time spent relaxing on the beach was wonderful before heading back to the cold in Canada. Unfortunately it was quite windy on those days so did not get in for a swim, the sand was really stirred up and would love to visit again on a calm day in order to be able to enjoy the water.
I would have enjoyed being able to wander through looking at the "touristy" items but absolutely cannot stand the locals luring tactics so missed out on ALL of that. Ah well, saved money in that regard. Le Petit Francois has good draft beer specials at RD.50 per large glass, had a generous amount of food on our plates for breakfast which was the fruit plate and typical Dominican breakfast. Very good. All in all I would recommend staying in this area.
We stayed in Cortalang Vacation Rentals apartment building. Nice but simple suite.
Grabbing an Uber is also very easy. Uber to POP airport cost $30 USD. Taxi would have cost the same, didn't notice them outside the area till we ordered the Uber though.

I will not come here.
I will not come here. You will be very disappointed The staff is very nice. As for room service don't bother. I called and they never came. The theater is not all that. Part of the ceiling fell and they didn't even caution it off. Some people fell and got hurt. People were walking with water up to they're ankles. It was a disaster.

The mountains are beautiful, the food is excellent.
The mountains are beautiful, the food is excellent. The location is perfect. The people are helpful and very friendly. Ramon was very helpful he could be found everywhere, I don't know how he did it. Gustavo took us on a horse and carriage ride and also took us on a nearby beach, foodstore and restaurant. We enjoyed the food and people at Pescados Y Marisco the most. Especially Madeline our waitress. Our good friend Vincente Vargas was the first reason we visited. My husband George met him in Nassau Bahamas were he worked for George a short while.

For myself, I am not always happy on a beach vacation because I need plenty to keep me busy. A day or two less would've been fine, but that was not the fault of the resort.
Puerto Plata was OK. Not that much to see there. We did take the cable car up to the top of Isabel de Torres, and that was very pleasant. We also took a driver out to Carbarete Beach and el choco Park, which we enjoyed. I would not bother with Damajagua. There were perhaps 1000 people there when we went, and it was quite a zoo. For Various reasons, I ended up not going all the way up to the Falls, and I was perfectly happy not to have gone. My husband didn't care for it at all. The ride was all right, but the whole experience was not worth the effort. Too many people. Waiting in line in the wilderness is not our idea of a good time.

The town is great, the people are nice, but the hotels are in serious need of restoration and updating. I cant get over the fact that almost all the hotels on the coast there do not have proper hurricane protection, whether its shutters or hurricane resistant windows. Any direct hit by a hurricane will spell disaster for most hotels on the coast. Serious upgrading is needed on nearly every hotel.

Very well located and spacious room in a private house with amazingly helpful and welcoming owner. Access to the kitchen and common area with terrace. Walking distance to the old town and bus station.
The hotel is well situated. It is walking distance from main attractions, such as the historical section and the sea. The terrace was a benefit as the view was exceptional. The Wifi was good.
