Las Galeras is still rural, with small but comfortable and high-quality hotels. It is an area for ecotourists or lovers of quiet and more unspoiled beaches without the structure and depersonalization of a resort. There are many small hotels and many French-run restaurants that compete with the locals. I recommend going to the local restaurants and try their excellent Creole food. It is effortless to move around the Galeras, although with great caution, because the locals drive their motorcycles and cars with a lot of anarchy and little respect for traffic rules. Our favorite restaurant was Los Conucos. It is a family atmosphere, run by Alba and her husband. Juana, the mother, is the cook, and the daughters take care of the place. It has a barbecue that is very popular with the locals. Their creole dishes are delicious. We paid an average of 25 dollars for two people, including beer. On our next visit, we would like to have cleaner beaches.

Even though it is a 3-hour drive from Santo Domingo area, Las Galeras is beautiful, out of the annoying touristy places. Beaches are well-preserved.
Really beautiful surroundings, great place for hikes too.

Las Galeras was quieter than the last time we came.
Las Galeras was quieter than the last time we came. We had lunch and dinner at L'aventura de john and the good food is always there. we had our own vehicle, so it was easy to move around even if the main road is temporarily in bad shape due to some work. The best with our 3 teenagers was to spend the day at the beach

Si quiet and so quaint , restaurants are so family oriented the food and the area surrounding el pelicano is like living in a fairy tale, loved it , I’m definitely going back again on my next trip to the Dominican Republic
Beautiful (almost wild) beaches, amazing plants/ nature, tranquility, no crowd, great food. You'll find plenty of attractions: El Limon waterfall, horse riding, Boca del Diablo, el Ricon beach and lagoon, boat trips, real Dominican households, Rio Frio, marble mines and much more. What I would do better next time - I would avoid the east part of DR (Punta Cana, Boca Chica, La Romana, Santo Domingo etc) and hit directly to Samana.

Las Galeras can be a base camp for visiting a lot a wonderful beaches located near the place, like Fronton and Playa Madama, the ones we visited. As we didn't have more time, we couldn't visit other beaches that exist between Las Galeras and Playa Rincon. I recommend going there with enough time to explore. Do not Miss Restaurant El Cabito, where Tomeu will be able to enchant you with wonderful conversation and better food!

Lovely room, clean, comfortable and cozy. Dominique is a great host and helped us getting some snacks on a near market when we arrived at the hotel, as we were late for a lunch meal on nearby restaurants. Location is also great, with a cool view from the sea.
Sparkling clean, beautiful outdoor spaces, loads of lounge areas, stinning beach, clean pools, nice restaurants, friendly staff all around.
Possibly the most comfortable beds we’ve had at a hotel. Quiet room and beautiful airy and light in the room.
very nice family owned hotel, very helpful. The breakfast is good 👍
the beach is 2min away , a lot of restaurants and shops in the area
there is 3 spots in the private parking and you can also park on front as the street is calm
The proximity with the beach and the personal. Specially Kenny, he was amazing with me !! He’s one of the best I’ve ever met. He gave me lots of good advice on where to go in Las Galeras !
