It is very close to the beach
The owner was super accommodating and helpful with suggestions.
There is a small kitchen that was completely suitable for making easy meals, which was helpful because a lot of the restaurants nearby are very expensive.
This is a very small, quiet and simple town. If you are looking for a lot of nightlife, it might not be for you. But there are several really good restaurants and bars within walking distance, and it felt very safe to us. Definite small town vibes where you will get to interact with local residents if you want. It was hard to find many English speakers (and I know almost no Spanish) but with translation apps that was a minor inconvenience at worst.

The is a wonderful, family oriented resort. The staff and especially the hotel manager and head cleaner are wonderful. Any issues that may come up, they rectify immediately. I had a wonderful stay and I will be returning.

This is not a tourist town.
This is not a tourist town. The local restaurants are authentic and delicious. It has a beautiful wide beach and gentle surf. Perfect climate. The beachfront properties are well maintained. But the village is not walkable. There is uncollected trash and unpaved alleys for streets. For now, it is still a treasure if you find the right hotel. We did.

I've stayed in both the "bad" and the "good" parts of Juan Dolio and cannot recommend either. The beaches in this area are far too dirty, for one, and the local grocery shops (colmado) have a very poor, limited selection of vegetables and meat. This was my third Dominican Republic vacation, and if I return, I will be going to the Bayahibe area again (especially Cadaques Caribe).

1 -The performance area must have the option indoors in case it rains or bad weather
2- The disco / dance and karaoke area is very very small to be a resort
where you will enjoy, celebrate and dance! On the occasion we went (December 6 to 13) the area for those purposes was a small bar, the area was very nice but there was no room for more than 15 people there, and our group was 21!
3-maybe we went at the time of remodeling, because where was the casino? I never heard any promotion or invitation

I have been coming to Juan Dolio for over 10 years and I am afraid it is time to move on. I believe the pandemic has hit this area pretty hard and many local places have closed. I was here a year ago and I believe that things are worse now. Fewer tourists now, buildings less well maintained.
I did not feel as safe as I used to feel around town.

When it was raining one day the roof was leaking. There wasn't closet to put your things in. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location good for local transportstion to the capital Santo Domingo and in the other direction to San Pedro de Macoris.
The resort is near some good restaurants and shops, and is close to the public access tunnel to the beach. There is a pool on site, and a restaurant, although I didn't use the latter.
