Dorint Am Goethepark Weimar, hotel in Weimar

This first class hotel is just a 3-minute walk from Weimar city center, directly behind the Goethe House and opposite the Goethe Park. It offers unique accommodations.

Our room was comfy due to a comfy bed and linens. There was sufficient hot water for showers and bathing. Our room overlooked the Ilm Park and had windows to look out of, some opened for fresh air. There were shutters for privacy but they were not obtrusive. Our room was a comfortable temperature even with chilly temps and heavy fog outside. Check in/out was a breeze. The rate was very comparable with other hotels in the middle of Weimar. The location was super close to shopping, cafes, buses, trains, the Anna Amalia Library, and many other great places to visit in Weimar.

FAQs about hotels in Weimar

German Cultural Heart

Weimar is not only a charming town in central Germany, but it has also been an important cultural centre for almost 3 centuries. Home to artists like Goethe, Schiller, Liszt, Bach and Strauss, the city's legacy is only comparable to the beauty of its idyllic surroundings.

It was between 1758 and 1828, during the regencies of Duchess Anna Amalia and her son Duke Carl August, that the town became the capital of German Enlightenment. In 1919, it saw the founding of the Bauhaus movement by Walter Gropius, and the sessions of the Constitutional Assembly of the so-called Weimar Republic.

It has numerous places that have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, and it was the European Capital of Culture in 1999. Some of the best Weimar hotels are located in the south, particularly near the German National Theatre, Goethe’s house, and the City Palace.

The city is also famous for its ‘Onion Market’, held every year in October. If you’re planning to come to Weimar during the festival, check the hotel availability with enough time in advance.

The local railway station has express lines linking to Frankfurt, Dresden and Berlin. The nearest airports are Erfurt Airport and Leipzig/Halle Airport. Whether you’re looking for cheap accommodation or 5-star hotels, check out the Weimar deals on Booking.com!

What Guests Said About Weimar:

Weimar remains in many ways the cultural centre of Germany.

Weimar remains in many ways the cultural centre of Germany. It was the home of the literary giants Goethe and Schiller, and Johann Sebastian Bach and Richard Wagner also based themselves there for a while. The architecture of the old city is delightful but Weimar is also where the modernist Bauhaus movement began in the early 20th Century. The relatively new Bauhaus Museum is a must for anyone interested in the beginnings of modern design and arhitecture. In short, there is something for everyone in Weimar, not least its fine range of shops, boutiques and restaurants. English is widely spoken.

Stoped in Weimar on our way to Poland from England.

Stoped in Weimar on our way to Poland from England. Have done so previously, as it's about halfway and the town suits our needs, being close enough to the motorway. Many different places to eat and lots to see and do. The Christmas Market was a bonus, and will still be in action, when we stop over on our return to blighty...!

There was a lot to see and do. We enjoyed the Goethe House, the Schiller Haus, and Haus of the Weimar Republic. The city felt very safe as we wandered about. There were a variety of restaurants to select from. From here, we took trips to Buchenwald and Erfurt.

This was my second visit to Weimar and my second stay at Hotel Amalienhof. I last stayed there from January 3rd-7th 2018 and I had such a wonderful time in Weimar then that I promised myself that I would return one day and alas, I returned to Weimar and once again stayed in a place that I know and like so well, Hotel Amalienhof.
