This is our second stay with Tatjana and Ludwig, this time with kids. Gruner Baum is the perfect spot in the the Black Forest and everything about it, from the clean and comfortable rooms, the view of the forest and the delicious breakfast, are unmatched.
Tatjana and Ludwig are gracious, entertaining and funny. They were always available to help with anything we needed.
Highly recommended for couples or families.

A great location. The room had everything and was spotless. The staff were very attentive and helpful.
We ate in the restaurant and although not cheap, the food was excellent and was well presented.

We arrived at this hotel by "accident". We had a horrible mistake by booking a hotel in Kandel that was supposed to be on top of the Kandel Mountain. It was after a 10 km hike up the mountain after an 6 hour and half drive from Belgium to Germany that we've realized this was not the case. So we booked this hotel literally an hour before arrival, but we were more than happy with this hotel. Amazing kind staff that helped us the next day with getting back on that mountain to continue or hike. Delicious breakfast that was super fresh and tasty! Lovely hotel room with comfy beds!
We were sad we couldn't stay longer to visit the beautiful church in this town. But if you are in the neighbourhood I would highly recommend this hotel!

Breakfast and gastro service was excellent, reception extraordinary. Very good advices to find late night dinner possibilities in the neighborhood. Late check-out without problem. Beautiful, well made room design! I love to come back!
An absolute gem, which we only picked by chance as it was located near the trail trough the Black Forest we were hiking on. We expected a typical local guesthouse and were pleasantly surprised to find a very well maintained and clean hotel with an excellent restaurant. Spacious rooms, well equipped bathroom, perfect bed and friendly and very competent service. If you have the chance, stay, and eat, here for a great experience in the center of the Black Forest.
We had a warm welcome at the Landgasthaus Gruener Baum. The room was nicely furnished, spacious and comfortable, with a private balcony overlooking the valley. We stayed for two nights and ate in the restaurant both evenings – the food was delicious! We would strongly recommend it for a stay in Simonswald.
Charming hotel blending traditional common areas with modern rooms, perfect for a peaceful retreat. Delicious breakfast. The restaurant offers great quality but is a bit pricey. Great balcony with relaxing views that we enjoyed every evening.
The hotel provided everything we needed for our stay we enjoyed the breakfast and our evening meals were delicious. The hostess was very informative about the routes we should take.
