I have spent almost 20 years traveling to Gmuend and stay at the Fortuna. Nice location, great breakfast. Staff is always friendly and welcoming when I arrive.

The hotel was a great experience. We went there to visit the US Army Garrison Hart and Bismarck concerns. The hotel is where my father stayed during his transition there, it is exactly the same as he described it. A small but friendly place with plenty of memories the hotel is the best in the area

I liked the pedestrian areas the best. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to explore the walks along the river...
I loved the glockenspiel tune from the Rathaus.
I found a nice tavern like place to eat that had an English menu very close to the Rathaus.
Putting modern buildings amongst centuries old buildings might sometimes work but I thought the modern, mustard coloured cube building near the historic old centre horrendous.

The forests around the area and Schwabisch Hall which I preferred to Gmund. We ate at Columbia Ristorante which is excellent with friendly and efficient staff. Fantastic pizzas and probably the best in town. Ristorante La Trattoria was very good. The Indian Restaurant near the cathedral is excellent but I cannot remember the name. Only takes cash.
Not easy to get around by car due to one way and very narrow streets, especially finding Hotel Pelikan. Fine for walking though.

Nice Schwabian city with quite interesting old buildings and a cathedral with a prominent bell tower. Quiet and peaceful it is surrounded by typical German nature medieval castles and monasteries and is conveniently located from Göppingen.

I was stationed in the army there, from 1968 to 1970 for 2 1/2 years. I had forgotten how beautiful the area was. The downtown has really gone through a transformation. It was great to return for the first time in almost 50 years!!

This was our second stay in this hotel. You cannot beat the location. You are in the middle of the city. Despite that parking is available! We arrived early after my friends flew in from America. They were extremely tired and we were kindly met before check-in time and shown to our rooms. Much appreciated. The rooms were comfortable and unique. Breakfast is lovely and the person serving breakfast even more so. Very nice! Will definately book again!
It's a perfect spot if you're going to the PH University, as it was just 20 min. away walking. On the way to the university, there's also a supermarket (REWE) and a bakery, where you can have breakfast. This is super convenient. Also, the bus stop to go the center of the village and/or the station is right in front of the hotel.
I am satisfied with everything the hotel offered - breakfast, comfortable room, wonderful view, closeness to both to the city centre and to the train/bus station.
