Great suburb of Dusseldorf with affordable hotels and a very good and and cheap connection to Dusseldorf city center. Just take the U72 from Ratingen Mitte to Düsseldorf Hellriegelstraße. Get out at the Düsseldorf Heinrich-Heine-Allee to be in the middle of the Altstadt & Konigsallee.
Single trip for an adult is 2,80.

It is such a lovely town and it is close to the different cities in the area, Dusseldorf, Essen, etc. It is very peaceful and full of history I totally recommend it for a short trip on the weenkend or for a calm week to walk in the forest, visit the castle and enjoy great italian gelato and greek food!

Ratingen is a beautiful town and the reason a tourist would stay there is to access Düsseldorf. So, hotel prices in Düsseldorf vis a vis self-catering accommodation in Ratingen are quite competitive considering the travel experiences one would incur as well as the proximity factor. However, in my opinion, if you stay in this particular accommodation you have to have access to a vehicle, as Ratingen Ost station is at least 15 minutes walk away. But the owner could easily overcome the competition by providing ebikes as an option for a low fee, as ebikes can be used to commute to and from the station and also can be used to tour the city.
Very kind and helpful personnel. Very good breakfast. Room was very small, bathroom was big and comfortable. Everything was clean, although the carpet in the room needs replacement. Hotel is located in the nice, quiet town Ratingen, within 10 min walk you can reach train/bus station to go to Dusseldorf airport or Dusseldorf city.
Nice hotel located in quite area of Ratingen, but there is a bus stop in 2 min walk distance, you can easily go to Dusseldorf airport from about 15-20 min. Good, but a bit small room for 1 person stay, very clean, with a good matress.
Really great breakfast, would highly recommend to enjoy it.
Very good and practical place if going to/from the airport. Basic, comfy rooms, and a nice pool area. Shuttle to the airport organised through the hotel is very reasonably priced and convenient. Still quite easy to get in to the city for a visit.
