Within walking distance to the boats for HerrenInsel. Great location, easy to find. Parking on site. No elevator but the stairs are manageable. Wonderful breakfast and great staff. We liked it so much that we booked it again on our return trip.
Set on the banks of Lake Chiemsee with splendid views of the Chiemgau Alps, this hotel enjoys a central location in the lakeside resort. It offers a traditional beer garden, restaurant and free Wi-Fi....

Out of season, the proximity to the promenade is great. Otherwise it probably gets loud at night.

The historic steam tram ride to the Port was fun .
The historic steam tram ride to the Port was fun . Tickets for train snd ferry services at the station - near the main train station. We only had 2 day do visited just 2 islands but I think an entire day hopping on and off at each town would be wonderful. Be aware that bus/train/ operations seem to stop about 7 and taxis were not answering ( though it was a big football night) We had a long but very pleasant walk back home. The palace & gardens ? Stunning!

A really nice resort town.
A really nice resort town. The boat trip to Herrenchiemsee is a must along with a tour of the palace. If you have the right weather be sure to swim in the lake - wonderful and refreshing. There is a good selection of restaurants. A beautiful location to visit.

I stayed here because I wanted to visit: Herrenchiemsee New Palace. The faux Versailles that King Ludwig built. Here are some things you should know before you go:
1. The Ferries. The ferries run on their own schedule. They do not take into consideration tour times, or opening times for the castle. They are unrelated. Also you supposedly buy a ticket for the ferry on the ferry but no ticket kiosk on the boat was open. So we ended up not paying. No one else paid either, maybe they worked on the island? It's very unclear. Everyone we asked about things is pretty unhelpful
2. The Castle. The ticket kiosks for the castle are by the ferry dock. They open at 9AM. The first tour is at 9AM. However the dock is about a 15 minute walk from the castle. You cannot buy a 9 AM ticket there and make it to the castle. So if you want to do a 9AM tour book online.
3. The castle tour is good, you can only see the rooms with a tour the tour lasts about 45 minutes. You can get tours in English or German.
4. Everything opens when it wants. The gift shop opened at 10AM the fountains were off then they were on then they were off again. The cafe also opened maybe at 10?
In short. My advice for how to best visit the island:
Buy tickets for the 9AM tour (it's in German but it's the first tour); take the 8AM ferry that will get you on the island at about 8:15 (you might have to pay for the ferry or not it depends how much they care, which seems to be not much); walk to the castle so you get there around 8:45, take some pictures, check in for your tour. If you are the only ones on the tour (since getting 9AM tickets at the boat dock is not possible) then they might just do the tour in English for you since no one else is there. Walk back, take, pictures, visit the museums,
It's not a great system to visit what is ultimately an interesting palace. Hope this helps someone. I found getting information on all of this very hard and contradictory.

special highlight is the breakfast buffet.
special highlight is the breakfast buffet. Much exceeded my expectation with the variety of the offers in both salty and sweet. Additionally our room (and as far as saw, each room) has a large balcony for a lazy isolation. The Spa area is open until 10pm. That was a good fit to our needs as wanted to take it easy in SPA area after a long day.

We enjoyed a comfortable stay at Hotel Pension Lindenhof. The manager was friendly and welcoming and provided a very useful visitor pass which allowed us to use local buses without charge. No breakfast is provided but there are a couple of local bakery/cafés which have a variety of breakfast offerings. Restaurants for other meals are 10-15 mins walk away in the town centre. Drinks (payable) are available in the hotel kitchen area.
The location is perfect if you want to visit Herenchiemsee Palace - which was the reason I stayed here - so that I could visit the palace the next day. It's just yards away from the pier where you take the boat to the island. While here I ate dinner at the restaurant & was very pleased with the food & service. The room was nice, breakfast was good, and there was parking on site, which made this the prefect choice.
Very nice, dog friendly and clean hotel. We were offered a free upgrade which was lovely. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Breakfast is vast and the quality and quantity is excellent.
I would return and stay longer.
The hotel is very close to the lake and the pier.
The staff was very helpful and kind to solve some problems I had
There is a restaurant in the location that is very good.
