Location and finding the property was very easy. The hotel was centrally located in the town (made walking around to explore easy), and next door to a very good restaurant. There was also convenient parking behind the hotel, which was big enough to accommodate our rental van. The staff was really friendly upon check in and out. And the breakfast in the morning was fresh, hot, and delicious. The hotel room was large (we booked the family room), and the bathroom was spacious, clean, and great water pressure in the shower.

Idyllic location on the berg overlooking the small town of Hornberg. We have stayed here five or six times previously and it always feels like coming home, as the entire staff is so friendly and helpful. All requests are always fulfilled with a smile. Breakfast, in the beautifully windowed dining room, is a feast and the ability to make your own waffles is a tasty bonus. The immediate area offers great trails to hike up or down the mountain.

I was as first a bit shocked with the unusual concept of the hotel being "not perfect" on purpose. Once I got the hang of it I got used to it and the concept grew on me some.
We all enjoyed breakfast very much and the meals we had at the restaurant were good . The staff was nice and friendly, especially Miss Sanela at breakfast time. The owner was also very nice ( I don't recall his name, sorry !) and available to help disoriented tourists like us. Nice sauna and hot tub area, the pool is above the ground, nothing fancy but still enjoyable.

Location, location, location! The most amazing chalet style accommodations!!! Immaculate rooms, we actually had a 2 bedroom apartment arrangement. With overlooking views of highland cattle grazing on green hillsides with their clattering rhythmic bells don't make you feel like Heidi, nothing will!
The optional buffet breakfast was just as spectacular!

A lovely little town, few attractions for kids in the area, including summer glides, field with all senses, and few more attractions - as well as not too far from Triberg waterfalls and town and some more. Overall great for couple of days

It's a good "hub" from which to make day trips.
It's a good "hub" from which to make day trips. There is a nice Kuckuckuhr (cookoo clock) store on the main road near the section called Niederwasser. There are forests in which to do some good hiking. Walking the older part of the towns in the area can be relaxing.
Get an area map and research where to park your car. Small town parking can be tricky. Traveling by bus and train with a free Black Forest Pass while you are in the area can be beneficial - make sure train schedules are current. I will definitely come back to Hornberg/Niederwasser to Gaestehaus Ursula's Bed and Breakfast as my hub in the future.

We are 2 long distance cyclists riding from the UK to Italy and the Gasthof Rose was exactly on our route in the centre of the delightful town of Hornberg just around the corner from the marketplace. It is a very comfortable traditional hotel run by a very charming lady. Good restaurant and an excellent breakfast. Very quiet. Very good secure bike storage in the hotel's garage. Very comfortable.

Also kids friendly (kids stool in the bathroom), books and games close to the reception, kids plates, etc. Parking too! Lovely and handy.
Incredible views from the hotel room and around the grounds of the hotel/castle. On the doorstep to many excellent hiking trials. Helpful staff, clean and spacious room. Staff went out of their way to amend our booking as we wanted.
I really loved staying here. The place was very comfy, the staff/owner went well out of their way to help, the place was clean, tidy and charming and a great place to see the beautiful town of Hornberg and what it has to offer.
We booked a Deluxe Double Room and it was nice. The breakfast was pretty good and the staff really kind. Also, some parts of the hotel are refurbished and make it look more up to date.
