Great place to see some unusual wildlife. Going to Dune is easy with regular ferry and yet pretty cheap. We stayed in camping part of Dune for one night, beaches are teaming with life. Facilities there are uniquely clean. Second part of our trip was spent in the main Island, it is still quite a small place and easy to see in 1-2 days. Again the cliffs are full of life.

Great sceneries of a small-sized island in the middle of the North-Sea. Very good walking trails on the island, leading to the gannet colony at the north-west of the island. The breeding season was not yet over, and many young birds had to be fed to grow so that they can withstand the coming autumn and winter period. I could take many nice pictures of the gannets at quite a close distance, the large sea-birds were pretty used to the tourists and photographers.
At another day, we want for a small boat trip to the neighboring but remote island called "Dune", which has a sand-shore, an airport and a small camping site.
We were very lucky with the weather, the forecast was really bad with above 15mm of rainfall on a single day. Luckily, that never happened when we were there. Weather forecasts can be wrong too, luckily.

Nice and welcoming staff, speaking English well. The central reception concept where you pick up the key was easy to figure out, and you could leave your bags there while waiting for the ferry. The room was perfect, and we got one with a beautiful view of the neighbouring island Düne. There was no reception staff at the hotel itself, but there was no need either. Perfectly located in Oberland in the middle of the island with almost equal distance to the northern and southern ends.
Great location on the main esplanade, right in the place where boats to Dune island depart and where all shops and restaurants are. The apartment on the ground floor is a great flat, very big, superb comfortable, clean,furnished and equipped. The terrace is huge. So nice, would love to live there! Highly recommended, we were so satisfied, thank you very much!
Great location at the top of the cliff (there’s a lift if you don’t fancy the stairs), with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I had a room with a balcony with stunning views of Düne, passing ships and the wind farm in the distance.
