A beautifully kept, historic, centrally located property, with a deeply personal connection, for me..
My mother painted this area from a calendar photo, 60 yrs ago. This was my first visit. The village is nearly unchanged. The hotel’s owner’s suite is in the corner of the painting. It’s now painted yellow, the balcony was replaced.

The location is marvelous, parking was the only issue. Our landlord explained perfectly how we were to park, but another car decided they needed the entire parking spot for themselves. So we had to get inventive in parking once we returned from picking up food staples! No complaints to establishment, just inconsiderate others!
All in all the location was marvelous! History galore and you feel the beauty of the country!

Excellent location in such a nice village. We had two adjoined apartments. They are simple, clean, and have the basic necessities. The owner was friendly and helpful. We could easy walk around the village in the evening from rhis location.

Harburg is a charming little town in Bavarian Swabia.
Harburg is a charming little town in Bavarian Swabia. Eventually, the old part of the town is very small, the whole can be walked around easily, literally in 20 minutes. Beautiful, picturesque houses, next to which flows the Wörnitz river with clear water, where swans and wild ducks swim and nest in the surrounding grasses and bushes. On the hill above the town stands the medieval Harburg Castle. Built in the 10-11th century, until recently it was privately owned, but since 2000 it belongs to a cultural foundation whose aim is to preserve the castle as a historical asset in the future. There are lovelly views of the river, the town and its surroundings from the castle. With not very high hills and a picturesque river, the area is a beautiful place for rest, cycling, walks in nature. This small town is located right on the so-called "Romantic Road" and is a short distance from other similar places on this road - Donauwürt and Nördlingen, for example, which are beautiful small towns also and have their past going back centuries.

What a fantastic location.
What a fantastic location. I am always looking for areas with Castles and historic villages. I picked this hotel because of the price & rating, I go from area to area on the booking.com website until I find something that is close to where I want to be or on the way to where I am going. I was more than pleasantly surprised when I arrived here. Not far from here are also several monasteries as well as the famous "Sissi Schloss". Just walking around the castle and the historic village of Harburg can take up a whole day. A real gem. The Hotel Restaurant Straussen where I stayed had great food.

Our wonderful host Evelyn provided great communication and was there to greet us warmly upon our arrival. Her self contained apartment was clean and had everything we required for a comfortable stay. Evelyn even allowed me to put a load of washing through which was much appreciated. Unfortunately it was very wet when we arrived but it was lovely to look up to the Harburg Castle while we were eating our breakfast the following morning.
Very Nice hotel in the river side. We had a room with a view to the river, which was very nice. Staff was very welcoming and spoke good english. They have a nice balcony over the river to have a beer after a long day. If you need, they store bikes in a closed room. Beautiful view of the castle from the bridge next to the hotel. We loved to stay a night in this little town.
Wonderful atmosphere and a great opportunity to stay in a medieval castle. Short, downhill walk into Harburg. Good restaurant on site. Free parking within the castle.
