Historic with interesting buildings and cobbled streets. A canal runs through the centre. There's a market selling fresh produce in the square, it was there Friday and Monday when we were there. Parking in the square is by meter it was only 50cent per hour

We visited this unique place because my second great...
We visited this unique place because my second great grandmother was born there before she emigrated to California in the 1850s. It was a town built in the early 1600s by the Danish King Christian IV and initially intended to be a fortified town. Our main interests are history and birdwatching so this place is ideal for that. We did some great birding in the Elbe marshes (near Haseldorf and Wedel). It’s a nice to walk and look at the shops, bookstore and museum. It helps to speak a little German or keep the Google Translate handy.

This is a wonderful hotel right in the centre of the town, literally overlooking the central plaza. The owner and staff were fabulous and could not do enough to make our stay so memorable. Evening meal was very good and the breakfast great and enormous! Thank you Katya (forgive my spelling) and the whole team, cheers all 🍺
The place is quaint and really pretty garden view. Best room in Gluckstadt than any of the hotel rooms we stayed at around the plaza.
Breakfast is also very nice. With avocado and watermelon...very personal.
Large clean comfortable room. Friendly helpful staff. Safe parking for my motorbike. Good breakfast. Helpful with suggestions for eating in Gluckstadt.
