Very nice hotel with a good price level. Beautiful lobby hall with charming design. Our room was nice, clean and big. Breakfast was amazing with a lot of choices.
Thanks for sauna and swimming pool. (Hammam was broken at that moment).
I could definitely recommend this hotel.

An interesting & elegant hotel in an amazing old village within a beautiful setting, the garden is really outstanding. Restaurant offers good GF options for dinner and a super selection for breakfast, which we ate in the garden.

Large house with a great kitchen and a lovely garden. The bedrooms are mostly European style twins (two mattresses together). The decor is really nice and tradional.
Location couldn't be better, just 50m from a nice bakery and 100m from the town centre.
Outside is a large sitting area, perfect for families or groups.
Anja the manager is really helpful. She allowed us to park our motorcycles in the garden behind the secure gates.

Great place to set your base for visiting the Black Forest.
Great place to set your base for visiting the Black Forest. Less busy than Freiburg and relatively close to Triberg and Baden Baden, which we also liked but are more mixed with modern architecture. Also very close to old castels and other nice quiet beatiful towns like Haslach in Kinzigtal, Zell am Harmersbach and others.

lovely friendly small historic town . lots going on markets galleries etc
Good restaurants and cafes for breakfast. .very good ice cream parlour. theres even a chance to do a lamp light tour with a night watch man as they did in the olden days ... a lovely walk through a vineyard to a church on the hill. All our train journeys were free with the Konus Karte.. given by the hotelier. We travelled back to Basel Airport free of charge . the train takes you to lovely little places like Schiltach and Haslach .. so pretted and typical of the Black Forest ..... dont forget to try the Black Forest gateau !!

Gengenbach itself is a very small little town but quite cute. The food is predominantly Italian - still don't know why. In town itself I don't think you need more than a day, but you are close to Strassburg and several other small towns, hikes and wineries nearby.

We chose Gengenbach as a base as it was easy to get train to other places and go for local walks. It is a pleasant village which is quite picturesque. It is not touristy. There are quite a few restaurants. Menus only in German so make sure you have a phrase book!

What an amazing village and the location of the property was perfect. In the evenings the entire family (8) met at the cafe owned by the property owners and had ice cream, dessert, wine and or beer. DELICIOUS!! It was a lovely way to end each day. We all want to come back!

This is a small friendly town with lots of dining options, a museum, a night-time tour of the town with a historical talk by the Nachtwaechter, beautiful church. In December the Rathaus is turned into the "world's largest Advent calendar."
I had a wonderful one-night stay at Schwarzwaldhotel Gengenbach. The hotel's proximity to the stunning old town added to the charm of the experience. The staff were incredibly helpful and responsive, making my stay even more enjoyable. While the breakfast was basic, it provided everything I needed. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay.
I loved the breakfast, and regretted that we didn't dine there the night before. But then there's plenty of options around town.
I absolutely loved the present for the dog. This has been the first hotel we stayed with our pooch where we feel the 'host' is actually going the extra mile to facilitate our 'baby'.
Haus Nilson is a big house in the forest. Gengenbach is 5 minutes by car or 20 minutes walking. The surrounding nature is beautiful, so you can enjoy walking in the forest. The quality-price ratio of the apartment is excellent and the owner is very kind.
Beautifully appointed property in the stunning town of Gengenbach. Our room, the outdoor area, spa and restaurants were exceptional. We enjoyed two dinners at Cocette and the breakfasts were lovely.
It was literally in the centre of the amazing gingerbread town of Gengenbach. It had all the facilities required to make it a home, so you can eat in or dine out.
