The WC in the room had an open design, meaning it featured a sliding door that couldn't be fully closed. This allowed odors and noise to permeate the room, which was unpleasant for everyone. The inability to close the door led to disturbances at night, as any activity in the WC would disrupt the sleep of others.
Additionally, the hand-washing area was inconveniently positioned in the center of the room. This meant that any attempt to wash one's hands, whether after using the WC or for any other reason, generated a noticeable amount of noise, potentially waking others.
I find it quite disappointing that such a design was implemented in a 4-star hotel, and even more so that the hotel reception deemed it a modern concept. Is this truly the case?

One can tell that the owner is an experienced high-end hotelier. Everything was there and in the right place. We were extremely satisfied with our stay. Dinner was home cooked and excellent. Breakfast comprehensive. The room well appointed. We will go back again without hesitation.

In first instance, I planned to follow the Rur from Heimbach to Jülich, but the quality of the path (Rad-Ufter) is quite poor. So I switched to loops around Düren, and I had much a better path quality everywhere. I enjoyed much more the area from Düren, upstream of the Rur. Downstream is flat, and more industrial.
The Rad-Ufter cycling road would become a dream with better path surfaces all along!

Reception was non existent so needed to find a number to ring to ask for an access code to the building and room.
Didn’t like the noisy corner room 101 on the street. No privacy. Wouldn’t move me as said full (but they were not).
Didn’t like the location as very little in the area except a supermarket.
Best avoid
The rooms and communal areas of the hotel were clean. Breakfast was good with a wide choice. The hotel is situated in the town which is a reasonable size. A good restaurant is Nish Nush which has delicious Israeli food.
