Known as the 'Jewel Box', Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city centre.
Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) is an imposing building that is one of the most beloved symbols of the city.
Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Continue your journey along the cultural centre of Germany and visit the picturesque Baroque square of Neumarkt. Also not to be missed is Brühl Terrace, a promenade nicknamed the 'Balcony of Europe', because of its excellent view of the River Elbe.
Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the city and you will find a selection of cosy Dresden restaurants and beer gardens serving local dishes and fine wines from the surrounding vineyards.

Dresden is the capital of the Saxon Germany region. The architecture is beautiful to see. Walking around the cobblestone streets is a lovely experience. There are lots of places to eat around the city centre and it is busy during the night. Well worth a visit.

The trams were having a few issues while we were there, with roadworks, and shortstaffing, which posed a few problems, especially as we didn't speak much German. But even so, we loved Dresden - it has real character as a city, and is so easy to walk around, especially the old city. There is also some fabulous hiking around Pirna and Stadt Wehlen on the Painter's Way, if that's your thing - they are easily reached by bus, ferry and train, but you need to plan this. And a visit to the Bastei Bridge is an absolute must despite the likely crowds!

Dresden is such a wonderful and clean city. not overcrowded like most tourist hotspots in Europe. There are numerous cultural activities within the city. One highlight is the big open air Elb-Kino open in summer months where you can take in a movie on Friday and Saturday evenings. Another highlight is biking along the Elbe bike path on both sides of the Elbe all the way down to Pirna and beyond.

The city is absolutely stunning and interesting.
The city is absolutely stunning and interesting. I just did not like the people. A woman in a cafe screamed at us thinking we were stealing her umbrella. The next day a group of 5 men (well dressed) were harassing us in a very racist manner. It was my second time in Dresden and the last one 🤷🏻♀️

There is lots and lots to do and see in a beautiful city like Dresden. For young and old the history of my birth place 😍 up the mountain of Saxony Switzerland sächsische Schweiz or down to the river Elbe on one of the oldest Dampfschiff.
The Kempinski Dresden isn’t just a hotel; it’s an experience in opulence and elegance. From the grand, historic architecture to the meticulously decorated rooms, every corner exudes luxury. The service is impeccable, making you feel like royalty. However, it’s the sheer extravagance that borders on the grotesque, with an over-the-top display of wealth that might feel excessive to some. If you’re looking for an indulgent stay, Kempinski Dresden delivers, but be prepared for a level of grandeur that is almost surreal.
Incredible location in the historic area of beautiful Dresden. The room was lovely; well set out, gorgeous amenities and pillows to die for! I slept really well and awoke every morning to young music students busking in the street below. The hotel bar was super, and the lobby was welcoming and comfortable. The wellness area in the old cellars was fabulous and I enjoyed a spa treatment. The Hyperion had just the right amount of luxury whilst also feeling comfortable.
one of the best and most impressive hotels during my trips in my life till now. The staff are extremely nice and warm , they are all well mannered and professional to make guests feel at home. hotel location is direct in the middle of the old town , clean and comfortable. In my mind , the most important thing , this hotel holds the old tradition of hospitality of German hotels . Whenever in my life long when we visit Dresden , we will always choose this hotel .
Wonderful suite overlooking the square. Staff are wonderful and this hotel is hard to fault. Wifi is fast and reliable but a little annoying that you have to re log in each day. Breakfast is good for Germany. The room was large as was the very comfortable bed. Bathroom is perfect and functional. Plenty of work dpace and wardrobe space. Free small minibar was a bonus. Parking is brilliant for a city centre but expect to pay eu28 per day but worth it.
