It was small but cute. Nice area it’s located in. WiFi worked well. The breakfast was nice. Nice area for evening walk. Safe place to store bike. I left my phone charger and it was being stored in a plastic bag with room no. On it so it was easy for them to find when I returned an hour later after checkout.

A classical hotel in the historical city center. Breakfast is served in a retro-fashioned restaurant with an atmosphere of an old house. Still, everything is renovated.

During the summer and spring brightens up a lot, and can be very vibrant during the weekend. During winter it is cold, gray and dead.
The city is surprisingly international for its dimension, offering a wide assortment of restaurants. Don't expect much from the restaurants in terms of variety and quality.
The museums are very cute, focusing on the message rather than bombard you with pieces.
It is a good base for further exploration of the surrounding area. I would recommend the Slawenburg at Raddusch, Lübbenau, the Therms at Burg, Kromlau, which are easily reachable by car, and also reachable by public transportation (not as easily though).
Let's be blunt, Cottbus is not a place that people go to just because. It is not a particularly interesting or beautiful city.

A beautiful historical town. Especially the Market Square.
A beautiful historical town. Especially the Market Square. The streets and buildings retain their old character, just as if you would take the city of 1935 and give it some modern paint. This feels very interesting.
Also, there are some (fortunately, not too many) buildings from the DDR era, which makes the city even more interesting.
The city is very green and there are a lot of beautiful old trees.
The university area is well organized, you can have quite a good lunch in the Mensa at excellent prices.
We have also tried "Der Stadtwächter" restaurant, and the food (and beer) was just great.
The city is also interesting due to the Sorbian heritage. There are biligual street signs, and some institutions, e.g. the Lodka, where you can buy Sorbian books, souvenirs, try talking Polish/Czech/Sorbian to the people in these institutions. I think it is important that the tourists, especially from Slavic countries come and ask about it.

We planned to see the Spreewald.
We planned to see the Spreewald. When choosing the location of accommodation, we focused on the most popular addresses: Luben, Lubennau, Cottbus. The first two turned out to be small, very touristic villages with nothing specific to offer. Cottbus (Chociebuż) is a big city with a very nice old town and good restaurants. We were very pleased with the choice

There are some lovely parks within the city and in the vicinity. Unfortunately, probably because of the weather and the season, there wasn't much opportunity to eat in the fresh air. We mainly walked around the city, which is quite compact.
