Do your research and plan your trip in advance. We booked theatre and jazz club (both within 10 minutes walk), and spent a day around teh castle and cathedral.
Visited the Anthropoid crypt - watch the movie Anthropoid first.
Old town is wonderful. Eat in local restaurants - better food and cheaper - not in the squares.

I'm a bit biased, as I lived in Prague for 17 years, and it has changed, as cities do. Take away the shops selling the same tat, it is still the most beautiful city. Around the Best Western there are plenty of eating and drinking opportunities. I can recommend The Black Dog Cantina, serving excellent local burgers and Plzen beer, if you like traditional Czech food, then U Kalendu might be just for you. I had beautiful roast beef and mashed potatoes, while my girlfriend had lamb chops. For something a bit different, one minute from the hotel is KK Kava a kuchyne. It's only been open a few months and is well worth visiting just for the pumpkin and shrimp soup.
Prague's trams and metro make getting round so easy, though you'll probably just want to walk and wonder. NB If you do use public transport, be sure to buy a ticket. Might sound obvious but the kontrollers can spoil your day if you don't have a validated ticket. For pensioners like us, it's paradise. Just carry some id with your date of birth and it's free.

Prague is small enough to get around most attractions on foot. The architecture throughout is stunning. However, it was exceptionally crowded and has, alas, succumbed to the lure of commercial pressures to have big corporate stores filling retail spaces in the city - as they do in every city now - at the expense of more interesting independent businesses. (It depends what you are looking for, I suppose). Having said that, there were enough places that had hung on to their traditional architecture and interiors to make key attractions worthwhile.

5 days is enough to visit Prague.
5 days is enough to visit Prague. Plan everything a month before going, activites, visits, restaurants, you need to have everything booked in advance otherwise you won't be able to enjoy because it's packed with tourists. That was the downside, too crowded and the christmas market wasn't that nice, it looks much better on google.

Allure Hotel Prague is a beautiful, clean, and quiet hotel close to Old Town Square, the Astronomical Clock, and luxury shopping street Pařížská.
However, what truly made our experience stand out was the exceptional staff and attention to minor details..
Upon booking confirmation, we received a thoughtful message inquiring about any special requirements or dietary preferences.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with a smile from the staff and complimentary welcome drink...
In short a home away from home ..
Highly recommended..
Charming hotel in a quiet street near to Old Town Square. 6/7min walk to xmas market. The complimentary wine and yhe tea/coffee station provided is a nice service. Staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. We had a good size twin room on 2nd floor. Comfy beds, en-suite with walk in shower. My daughter and son in law had a similar, smaller, attic room on 5th floor. Good choice of hot and cold options for breakfast. We had no complaints. We all enjoyed our stay at The Hastell and would highly recommend.
The location is great - only 5 minutes walk to the Old Town Square. Reception staff and breakfast staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. The breakfast room was staffed so well and the staff were extremely efficient in clearing and setting tables. They also checked food levels - one of the best run breakfast rooms we have encountered. Our room was a good size. Hotel is extremely clean. Next time we are in Prague would definitely stay here.
Hotel reception was very attentive - best service we had in years, if you needed something it was attended to very promptly and confirmed as well. Breakfast was to die for, not the usual continental selection but properly cooked meal and more of a very good quality restaurant food so absolutely worth it. Location is superb - a bit off the center but 5 mins walk to Old Town Square and close to everything really. In short - brilliant!
The hotel's room meet our needs. lt has free parking which I really appreciate. It's easy to get to the Old Town Square using trams. Hotel staff: Jan and Diana were really kind and helpful. I recommand the hotel and I will definitely choose it again while visiting Prague
