Upon arrival around 10.30 PM (a bit later as expected due to train delay), I noticed the front door of the hotel/restaurant was already closed and locked despite that my late arrival was accepted by the hotel. There was a phone number posted on the front door, so I dialed it. The phone number was not working. I tried multiple times to make sure I was calling the right number, but the call was always immediately disconnected. I started looking around and thinking about how to get in touch. I had the great idea to have a look on their website and on booking.com, mentioning both a phone number which was different than the one on the door. So I dialed that number and heard a phone ringing inside, which was clearly at the reception desk or in the restaurant. After a while it stopped ringing (apparently at that thime the line was forwarded to 'the night receptionist'). I tried this multiple times as well, but still nothing happened. My last personal attempt to get in touch with the hotel staff, was by sending them a text message via the booking.com application and Facebook Messenger. However, I got no answer that night.
I decided to contact booking.com helpdesk by phone and explained them the issue. They were very helpfull and tried to get in touch with the owners as well (meanwhile I heard that phone ringing inside again). They've sent them an email and if there would be no reaction within 45 minutes, then they would take further steps. After 45 minutes, I recontacted the booking.com helpdesk. As expected, the had received no answer to their email. Since there is no other hotel in Domazlice that claims to have a 24h reception service, they arranged me an alternative hotel in Plzen, which is 45 minutes by car (and 2.500 CZK of taxi costs as it was already past midnight, of course to be paid by myself). Rebooking to the other hotel cost me nothing, so credits to booking.com service.
