A visit to Cesky Krumlov is like stepping back in history.
A visit to Cesky Krumlov is like stepping back in history. A stunningly well-preserved 'Medieval' town. Given its obvious appeal, it is very popular with tourists. I would recommend Autumn or Spring to visit. Please remember "rea; people' live and work there and it is not Disney Land!

Very charming little town.
Very charming little town. The "old town" is a small city center with lots of good restaurants and has beautiful picture opportunities. It is a bit of a walk from the train station but it's all downhill and fun. I recommend taking the bus up to the train station if going back that way. The bus station is just on the edge of the old town and makes the trip up to the train station in minutes. The old town is very walkable, and the castle grounds are open past dark so it's a joy to just stroll around and explore the streets. just bring robust shoes for the cobblestones and gravel. It's very safe and the traffic is limited to specific hours for deliveries etc. This town is a great retreat from busy Prague and just asking you to come and enjoy a beer on the river below the castle. The Latran Pizza restaurant has some of the best pizza and Italian around. Kristina's restaurant by the river has a great patio and best pork steak I've ever had(twice). Don't forget to walk all the castle garden for a peaceful retreat.

Great little tourist town. Not with you typical tourist but more local Czech tourists, given it just a bit more authenticity. Recommended for great views, walking, river boating, and enjoying restaurants and bars.

The price. Cesky Krumlov is super expensive to stay in. This VERY basic hostel meant we were walking distance to old town. This was fab. Lots of hot water. Great Turkish & pizza place 2 min walk away.
