Pedoulas was a wonderful base from which to explore this area of the Troodos Mountains. It was our first time in the mountains of Cyprus and we wanted to see sites such as Kykkos Monastery, Archangel Michaels church etc. and to do nature trails in the mountains. We achieved these objectives very comfortably from our location and could also move on to the west coast with a scenic (but very winding!) drive back down to sea level:)

Pedoulas is a lovely little village, high up in the Troodos mountains, a good base for exploring the area. Several nice hotels (The Two Flowers!) and restaurants (usually both together). Beautiful views. Quiet. A wonderful UNESCO protected medieval church with beautiful frescoes. You have to be fit to walk around the village, because it's in a valley, with a lot of climbing/descending. Lush vegetation everywhere, even in August, due to the stream running through the village (we picked plums all over the place). Not twee like Kalopanayiotis or Omodos. Loved it.

Fantastic place to explore throughout the whole year.
Fantastic place to explore throughout the whole year. Many mountain skiers prefer to stay here, although there is no ski track in Pedulas itself, because of the beautiful landscape and amenities nearby. A popular place for hiking in the shade of spreading trees. The village of Pedoulas, surrounded by pine forests and natural water sources, is full of fruit trees. It is famous for its cherry orchards, apple trees and traditional Cypriot sweets. Local visitors and tourists from abroad are attracted by the climate of this mountain village, fresh mountain air, amazing nature, amazing landscapes and the hospitality of local residents. Must visit for those interested in culture and history: Folklore Museum, Byzantine Museum, Church of Archangel Michael, built in 1474.

Pedoulas in the Marathousa Valley- famous for the 100 000 cherry trees blooming in spring - is quite dead in the middle of November, many restaurants and shops closed after season - anyhow with attractive museums and churches (Troodos UNESCO world heritage sites )and a good base for walks and excursions.
Well - with some caveats: the prevailing rusty metal roofs don’t fit in a romantic mountain village (my very personal opinion)

Beautiful setting.
Beautiful setting. But difficult to get to by public transport and few facilities in the village. Impossible to get to neighbouring villages by public transport. I ate at the Platonos restaurant round the corner. Friendly staff but mediocre cuisine. Next time I come I'd hire a car.

It gets fresh and cool in the village after sunset, I didn't expect that in August!
The whole village is picturesque and very suitable for walking around. There are many churches to visit.
Also there is a walking trail to the nature spring which was full of water even in hottest season of the year, was pretty amazing to discover it.
