We ate dinner at the hotel three nights because the food, atmosphere and staff were great. It is a ittle gem off the main street. Small dining room, homey feel with the chef cooking your meal 10 ft away in open kitchen. Nice food and wine sekectuon.staff were lovely. Breakfast included with eggs, fruit, coffee, bread and cheese. Definitely check it out. highly recommended.

The city is quite compact, and you can easily explore the entire city center in a day. The more rural areas on the outskirts are less attractive, but I didn’t feel unsafe there.
There are plenty of great bars and restaurants with live music in the evenings. Le Metalo was my favorite—both the food at the restaurant and the street food were excellent.
The Municipal Market was a lovely spot, offering a variety of local souvenirs along with some random Chinese goods. The boutiques were similar—featuring a mix of local products and many Chinese-made items.
The architecture is a blend of beautifully renovated historical buildings, modern constructions, dilapidated houses, and industrial structures.
The people were fantastic. I had no trouble asking for photos or advice. It probably would have been easier to communicate in Kriolu, Portuguese, or French, but English worked in most basic situations.

It is not a destination city but serves as a good launching point for hiking or boating around the islands. Most stores only take local currency and cash. Limited stores and supplies. Quiet little town

I am orginally from Mindelo so this is home away from home. My city is easily accessible by walking or car. People are friendly and the food is amazing. I love sitting at local coffee shops like Kafe Djan Djan and Prassa 3 and also having some ice cream Cremositos - the best italian ice cream around.

If you love diving and snorkelling, it's a paradise. I got my first open water diver license while staying in Mindelo. And there's always something going on in the city. Full of activities and cultural things to enjoy!

I liked the atmosphere and vibrance of the city. Everywhere at night is live music. During the day you can walk around town or do an island tour or relax at Laguinha Beach. At night its best you take a taxi everywhere you go, because it can get a little sketchy. The taxi's are 2 euro's per ride.
Don't forget Mindelo is a city with it's own problems. There are a lot of homeless people, junks and other people who want something. Especially when you are a tourist. You have to find your way.
Nice places to eat: Casa Cafe Mindelo, La Pergola, Nautilus (these are all pretty touristic)

A fantastic 2 night stay in December at this very spacious, modern, comfortable and clean apartment. Close to Lighuna beach - great for swimming and easy to walk into town. Special thanks to Denis who met us from the ferry and drove us to the apartment, gave us all the information needed at the check-in and also drove us to the airport at the end of our trip. He was truly exceptional in his manner and kindness, adding to a wonderful relaxing last 2 days of our Cape Verde adventure in Mindelo!
We only needed a night in Mindelo as we missed our ferry and wanted to be next to the ferry terminal to catch the first ferry early morning the next day.
The hotel is nice, modern and clean and a 10min walk from the old town of Mindelo. The small pool at the rooftop with the view of the town was a nice feature.
Fantastic hotel with very friendly staff who are happy to help and strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They can even support in booking some activities like a snorkeling trip. The hotel serves a very nice breakfast buffet with a mix of local and international food. Its location is unbeatable.
