I felt like I had a good sense of this incredible destination from other reviews and was not disappointed. It's stunning and well-worth the rugged journey. The views are breath-taking and the wildlife abundant, from the 3 toucans who greeted us outside the bedroom window on our arrival, to the howler monkeys, cows, and countless other birds and creatures. We stayed two nights with our college-aged children and planned for a rest day on the property in between, but there was too much right there to see and explore for any resting! Our horseback riding tour was a highlight-- calm and confident horses and friendly capable guides-- I highly recommend. The night tour through the jungle was fascinating for most of us, and slightly frightening for one of us. ;-) We were well taken care-of, generous hospitality, and delicious meals. Our entire Costa Rican experience was amazing, and Mirador Prendas was the top of the list.

Right in the heart of the rainforest. The tour was great and the food was homemade. We saw lots of monkeys, snakes and leaf cutter ants. My teens and I loved it! It was also close to town by taxi ($16) to do white water rafting. Henry in reception was great 😊 and so was our tour guide, Octavio.

I loved the art everywhere, the rooms and facilities were super well equipped. The coffee/tea bar was appreciated. The air-conditioning and bug free rooms were a wonderful change.

Beautiful lodge with birds all around, trails, big room and great buffet breakfast. They arranged a bird guide for us which was very good.

Birds, birds and more birds! Not to mention a lovely volunteer guide dog for the easy waterfall trail, and a 3-toed sloth spotted along that trail. And the wakeup call from howler monkeys. Great spot to reconnect with nature in very comfortable cabin-style house. Mama's brekky was superb too (extra charge). Note there is a small fee for the trail use.

it was over the top clean, nice, safe and quiet country house. I love animals so roosters were fun to see and hear. really smart kitchen everything smelled clean and looked spotless.
Tirimbina is a magical place. The grounds are nicely maintained. The trails are a bit tricky with
concrete pavers which serve to give you a less muddy hiking experience, but they are not solid pavers, so just be aware that it’s not a smooth trail. The pavers end as you go deeper into the forest. We did an excellent coffee/chocolate making tour which we enjoyed immensely and also a night walk which was enjoyable. The restaurant is excellent! I am
so glad we found this place!

Sarapiqui is a busy town, the commercial hub for the local area. We really enjoyed an excellent river trip, the guide was knowledgable and entertaining. We stayed at nearby Selva Verde using our own Hire Car to get around, driving is easy enough although this is a major highway

A stunning adventure with lots of memories.
A stunning adventure with lots of memories. Woke up to howler monkeys chatting in the treetops above my cabin. Great hikes, beautiful views.
Guides are super knowledgeable and enthusiastic to be there.
Something that's extra great? The employees--the guides, the cooks, etc.--all seem genuinely happy. It's clear that they're well taken care of and appreciated!

While there are many Adventure tours available, we opted for the birding activities. We took one guided tour at Tirimbina and one at La Selva. Both provided unique species and I highly recommend taking the extra time to also go to La Selva. Air Conditioning is highly recommended to help you stay comfortable after a day in the heat and humidity, which the region is known for.

We visited Sarapiquí in 2010 and we wanted to return. What we have found (in a period of 10 years), has been a significant increase of tourism and the expansion of the urban areas in the town. Now, there are more people living in Sarapiquí.

This hotel was a lovely surprise. Booked because it's close (literally a few metres) from the bus station, it turned out to be a very comfortable and quiet place, surrounded by a small jungle. There's also a big restaurant, open all day and offering a good choice. The staff, both at the reception and at the restaurant, were very kind.
Beautiful, peaceful location for animal, bird spotting or simply relaxing. Clean, but small pool and trails to walk.
Really helpful receptionist, who went out of her way to take us to see a couple of sloths in the grounds.
Really enjoyed our night at this hotel.
The gardens on the hotel property are full of birds, there are some trails and a pond with caymans. The room itself was clean and had a terrace with beautiful view.
