Visiting Lagunavista Villas is definitely a rainforest/ocean get away. The rooms are wonderful and very private. You are close to nature with incredible views. The meals are very good and served family-style with other guests or separately, if that is your preference. The staff is excellent and your hosts, Greg and Keiko, are warm and inviting. It's a bit like being invited into their home with lots of great conversation, music, and stories. They were very attentive and helpful in setting up activities for us when needed. It is a remote resort - perfect to disconnect (for the most part; they do have wireless) and get to know the creatures of the rainforest. Daily appearances by monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, and coatis add to the entertainment. We had a great time.
Surrounded by tropical rainforest, with waterfalls and nature, Luna Lodge features incredible nature tours, yoga, spa treatments, an organic swimming pool and free Wi-Fi in public areas.

The location is amazing, the fact that they have their own trails is a huge win, I especially loved the 'valle de frijoles' trail, breathtaking! Also the stuff was super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend if you want to immerse into the wild ;).
My wife loves Playa Carate, and enjoyed her time at this lodge. (I went along as good hubbie, as nature is not my thing, so these are her views). The cabin we had was rustic but spacious, set in the rain forest and with a great view. 3 types of monkey could be seen, and she reports the birding was very good. We stayed 3 nights, and went to the same spot on the beach each day. Carate is definitely the place to see macaws. My wife also loves its remoteness and isolation.
This is the perfect place for nature lovers looking for some peace and quiet surrounded by gorgeous nature abundant with wildlife! We heard and saw spider monkeys, howlers monkeys. capuchin monkeys, Scarlet Macaws and toucans daily. We also saw tracks of tapirs. Knowing that big cats roam the premises adds even more to the appeal of this wonderful place.
Yes it is a bumpy road to get to Carate but that is a good thing. It keeps the crowds away and the wildlife safer.
Luna Lodge is a beautiful place with an amazing staff. The lodge has a comfortable environment centered around a pool and restaurant/common area that sit comfortably in the forest. Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, and monkeys are frequent visitors and easily viewed.
Great meals with vegetarian/ non-vegetarian options are included with many ingredients grown on site.
