Hotel Puntanorte, hotel in Tintipan Island

Hotel Puntanorte features a garden, private beach area, a restaurant and bar in Tintipan Island. Some units at the property feature a terrace with a sea view.

The property is ideal located. It’s isolated and relaxing to feel like your are at the end of the word with everything for your own comfort. The team from the management to the staff are really nice, available and helpful. I would recommend this place to everybody that want a genuine experience of being on an island. The food is fresh and really good, you can pick up your lobster for diner at a very good price, it’s just amazing. Rooms are spacious and clean.

Keep in mind that not all hotels have beaches, even though they do have access to the sea. Also remember that walking from one place of the island to another is not possible due to the mangrove, so most of the time you will need to take a boat, which usually is provided by the hotel at a cost. This is a place to relax under the sun, swim in the sea, eat delicious food, and do some low intensity activities like paddle board or snorkeling. It is not a place to explore the surroundings, have long hikes, or party

Long and expensive trip to an overcrowded island.

Long and expensive trip to an overcrowded island. There is one good beach near the boat jetty only and it is overcrowded by daytrippers. All other beaches near the hotels full of corals and stones. Don't go three. Food bad.

It was a 2 hour boat ride from Cartagena.

It was a 2 hour boat ride from Cartagena. But once you arrive it’s an interesting island worth staying at for two nights. The snorkeling, fishing and beaches are great. It’s incredibly humid and that really the only big drawback. The only way to get around is by boat, but it’s part of the adventure. We also loved swimming with the plankton at night.

The privacy was peaceful; the staff at our "home" was friendly and attentive. Being able to use kayaks, paddleboards, floating chairs on our private strip of beach was priceless. During the day, the public beach was alive with tourists and local food merchants for a great taste of island life, but for the most part, everyone packed up and went home across the water after 3pm or so. Our beach was always private and more than roomy enough to be "alone" OR socialize with the other guests at our "home" - we made some new friends and enjoyed some meals together.

Against my better judgement (because I want to keep this hidden gem to myself...) I highly recommend visiting. I do recommend knowing some Spanish if you go to make things smoother but the journey was relatively easy and hassle free.

    short but sweet.

short but sweet. Went for three days and I think that was enough also compared to other beach/islands the overall cost of getting there and staying is too high to justify the end product. Very nice water and some very pretty sunsets~
