The location is incredible with spectacular views, Hugo and all the staff were extremely welcoming despite our poor Spanish, they made us feel at home from the beginning. The room was large with a huge bed which was the most comfortable we have stayed in during our time in Colombia. We will definitely come back when visiting Colombia again and would recommend it to anyone!

We spent two nights here and we absolutely loved it. Watching the rain while laying on the balcony hammock is quite peaceful. The place has view over the mountains, a sauna and jacuzzi which can be reserved in advance. If you decide to enjoy a massage, I recommend Claudia, she has golden hands. The food and staff are great, always ready to help out.

We were pleasantly surprised by how lively the town of Salento was. Bumi and Cumana for lunch and dinner, respectively, are great food options.
It's worth playing some Tejo at Cancha de Tejo Los Amigos one night (inexpensive and unique activity).
We would highly recommend hiking at La Finca Carbonera. We also really enjoyed our coffee tour at Finca El Ocaso.
In hindsight, we would have skipped our horseback riding excursion as we didn't find it very relaxing, though the tour guide was very kind.
Getting around is reasonably easy, but having your hotel book transportation on your behalf is likely necessary.

It’s a small colourful town with a lot of restaurants cafes shops and activities around. We stayed four days and liked it a lot. Even it’s a tourist town we liked it maybe because it’s not a high season in June.

Great city to relax and EAT!
Great city to relax and EAT! Lots of restaurants that are all very good. Optional tours outside of the city are highly recommended like the Socoro (Palms) and coffee plantations...there are others (mountain biking, etc). Uber is readily available. We were there 4 days which was just enough for us.

Salento is picturesque with colorful houses and beautiful interiors, located in the mountains and with a valley that is one of the main entrances to the high "nevados". Everything in Salento is about coffee, art, nature, birds and hiking. The best time to visit Salento is outside of the high season for a truly relax experience.

The cocora valley was closed on the 2 days we were there.
The cocora valley was closed on the 2 days we were there. This was the main reason we went and due to heavy rains or something along those lines, the road was damaged and not accessible by the Willy trucks. So everyone in line was turned away and told it was closed. Salento is very salesy - Filandia is a similar vibe with all of the painted houses but a bit less sales oriented. Would have stayed in Filandia and visited Salento for the day instead.
Coffee excursion was enjoyable.
A beautiful tranquil hotel set in the stunning landscape of Salento. My room was next to a running stream and had the luxury of a soaking tub, which after a day of hiking, was a blissful addition! The extra large bed was super comfortable.
The staff go out of their way to help you plan your stay and to organise taxis, nothing is too big or small for them. Breakfast was great, as were the dinners I had there. I couldn't recommend it more if you're looking for a relaxing stay in Colombia's coffee country!
The hotel is very close to the center while also offering a lot of tranquility and a beautiful view to the mountains. The staff members were excellent, all very kind and helpful. The bedrooms were comfy and clean. I planned to stay 2 nights and extended to 3 as I loved Salento and was very happy with the hotel!
We really enjoyed our stay at El Zorzal
Pros
- safe hotel and surroundings
- short 5min walk to center of Salento
- very close to bus station
- quite large basic room, very clean
- hot water, new towel daily
- nice terrace to hang out/work
- friendly dog
The room was clean, quiet, well equipped and with a nice view of Salento. It’s about 10 minutes on foot from the main square which means the noise of city in the evening does not reach the hotel.
Good location in a quiet area but still easy to walk to the town center. Free parking, decent wiki, great views from the breakfast area. Cheap compared to other hotels in Salento.
