Cabañas alto del aguila, hotel in Puerto Nariño

Cabañas alto del aguila in Puerto Nariño features 2-star accommodation with a garden. The hotel has family rooms.

I stayed for 3 nights and it was great to get away from a city and into nature. You are surrounded by lush vegetation, lots of monkeys and a couple of beautiful parrots. I took their kayak for a paddle into the lagoon where I saw some dolphins cresting the surface and more monkeys along the shoreline. Did not do any tours because I have some booked in Iquitos. But after talking to a couple of guests, they said their tours were really good. The hosts were very friendly and kind. I had a back cabana which was very quiet while you listened to the sounds of the jungle. I had a surprise visitor one morning when Lulu came to say Hola. Highly recommend this place.

Airconditioning was a blessing on a particularly scorching day. My boat left at 7am in the morning but they made sure I was able to have breakfast before I left, even though breakfast normally doesn’t start until 7.

    Love Puerto Narino!

Love Puerto Narino! Friendly , beautiful Amazon village, safe. Great village to be based for daily Amazon trips- night, river or overnight jungle treks. Easy to walk in town - no cars or motorbikes, clean and great restaurants

July 2022. A special place. Great relaxed vibe.

July 2022. A special place. Great relaxed vibe. Locals friendly. Very safe to walk around. I’d recommend 3-4 nights to get full experience. Lots of cheap hostel options. We stayed at Refugio Maiku - recommended, but one the pricier options (US$25/day for a private room with b/r). A handful of options to eat. Most restaurants are clustered in one area. Margarita is biggest and has a good lunch buffet (US$5). Dona Luz and Rogelio (cheapest) are also recommended. At night, there is a parrilla in the street where you can get cheap eats. There are a couple of basic grocery stores facing the river where you get water, beer and other essentials. One is open until 11pm. Most tours (“actividades”) you’ll want a guide. Depending on the water level, the tours are very different. I’d recommend a night hike the first day you arrive. Tarapoto is a must. The trip to San Antonio reserva on the Peruvian side and hike to a ginormous tree is also beautiful. We didn’t have time to go, but heard great things about the hike in Parque Natural Amacayacu. Each tour we did was between $12 -$25 but can vary based on group size. When you arrive, you can go to the information booth and get a map and information on tours. You can walk on your own to the Wochine reservation on your own (25 minutes) and see the pirarucu and caimans. You can also walk to Altos de Aguila and see monkeys and parrots (15-20 minutes) Lots of people will offer to be your guide, but best to find someone recommended beforehand or to ask at your hostel. Brandon was our guide for a few tours and is recommended. Tickets for the ferry back to Leticia is behind the malecon. You can reserve a place the day before you travel.

Honestly one of my favourite things about Puerto Nariño was staying at Eware Refugio. The location was amazing and we could see dolphins from the property! Best activities were kayaking at sunset with dolphins around us, seeing sloths and macaws in Peru, Tarapoto Lake (incredible) and a caiman spotting night tour!
