Palmira is a small town 45 minutes east of Cali. The scenarios to be in Palmira are either you have family or you are working in the area. There's a couple of small malls/plazas, and a water park but not much else. It get's kinda lonely during nights so it's best to have a rental car or a known taxi service available.

We toured the various colonial structures and other sites...
We toured the various colonial structures and other sites associated with the history of the sugar cane industry here. We were impressed with all we learned.
Then we drive to the town of Buga which is clean, lovely and filled with several large impressive cathedrals.
We spent a morning at Nirvana, a carefully crafted 2 hour hike up and around the side of a mountain. The trail winds along ponds, waterfalls, amid thousands of native plants and flowers. There are bamboo handrails where needed and steps constructed where necessary. Every view was a great photo opportunity. The restaurant and butterfly garden were fascinating and exceeded all expectations.
