The architecture of the hotel was very beautiful. It is a very nice mix of traditional indigenous architecture, but with all the comfort of a modern house. It’s very clean, and with a lot of nature around. It is very central but very quiet at night. Amazing place!

I loved this rustic camp in the rainforest, a modest but lovingly built family eco-tourism venture run by Jhon and his family. If you are looking for a truly off-grid experience, this is it. There is no electricity, and at night the candles flickering in open-air cooking and dining space, something like a traditional Maloka, are absolutely magical. Jhon's mother prepared me simple delicious food and freshly ground 100% cacao produced on the property, an overgrown cacao plantation. This place is completely surrounded by the sounds of the forest: it's about a 45 minute walk from the tiny village of Mocagua, including a short river crossing of the Quebrada Matamatá by dugout canoe. It can be muddy; the family provided me with rubber boots to use while I was there. A great place to completely unplug.
