Prado is a place imo to relax and unwind. U could spend a couple days just at the hotel.

All facilities were up to date and working. Parking was available in the garage below the hotel. No hot car from the sun. No need to turn off the lights when you leave the room as the retrieval of the entry card takes care of that. Upon return the card will be inserted and the lights come on immediately.

Did not particularly like the city. Quite a few untidy areas to pass through before getting to shopping areas. Coffee cafes far and few around. Shopping areas spread out, did not find it easy to navigate.
I wouldn’t recommend as a visit.

Barranquilla is a split world.
Barranquilla is a split world. The South is over crowded and filled with motorcycles and cars honking everywhere. It’s loud with music at every corner and vendors with authentic foods and snacks. It is somewhat dirty and probably dangerous for most tourist but it hides nothing. The North of the city is somewhat desolate, quiet and achieving a more westernized life and look but at the risk of losing cultural authenticity.

I come to visit family and get dental work done here. My stay can be up to a month so I like staying at hotels/Air B&B to have friends come over and enjoy the common areas and pool and go around to the local malls and restaurants/stores. Hotel Dorado DID NOT allow visitors to use the pool only the small common areas. So far at the Hotel Majestic the stay has been more comfortable and grand. For $15 more we have better service and better location, the El Prado mall is within walking distance and has many fast food restaurants/stores and a movie theater. Friends/family can also enjoy the pool and stay for lunch or dinner in the common areas.

It is an active city with many places to explore.
It is an active city with many places to explore. There is a lot of traffic, but the taxis and others motorist have a system that keeps things moving. The people are very friendly and helpful.
The shopping malls are large and have a variety of stores to shop in. Its a nice place to visit while in Columbia.

Great city, with great food and a lot of tourist spots like the Carnival Museum, Restaurant la Cueva, the Zoo, the food court at the river Malecón. And close to Puerto Colombia which is a very nice beach with beautiful statues of the inmigrants that came to the once important harbor, and a Lighthouse that turns on at night.

Barranquilla should be avoided by all.
Barranquilla should be avoided by all. The river boat service although free went up the river for 15 mins, turned round and went back. That was the exciting parts.
Forget the point where ocean meets river. No chance of ever getting there.

the staff is kind and always "a la orden". breakfast is either eggs, fruits, and toast with cheese and arepas, or some days it also includes soup and rice in a buffet type serving. the hotel is part of an old colonial house and has beautiful architecture.
A fairly standard stay at a large corporate hotel, while attending Barranquilla carnival. Room was large & comfortable, with good air conditioning, & staff ere nice enough.
