The City itself is pleasant with lots of local food options/street food to pick from in the West street Area. However, if you come to this place for rest and relaxation, then the city can quickly become quite overwhelming with the large number of tourists and vendors.
Would strongly recommend renting a taxi/motorcycle to explore the surrounding countryside, and avoid the main tourist attractions which feel a bit too curated, and are usually packed with tourists. Cycling along the Yulong river area was a highlight. If needed, taxis are very cheap and convenient to get around as well.

The garden inn has a fantastic atmosphere with views of faraway mountainous ranges. The morning of this garden inn is very refreshing that sunlight beams onto breakfast tables and Pagolas. Breakfast was great for the price. 👍👍👍👍👍

Absolutely worth a visit.
Absolutely worth a visit. After nearly three weeks of cities in China we were grateful to visit a calmer, more rural surrounding. We only stayed one night due to time constraints, in hindsight I would have stayed longer and visited local areas further afield.

Amazing scenery.
Amazing scenery. Definitely get out on a bike or electric scooter and go along the footpath next to the river.
The evening light show is amazing and definitely worth going to, but it is expensive and, be warned, nearly all the spectators (a few thousand of them) will be on their phones and talking very loudly throughout the whole performance.
West Street at night is worth seeing once. It is slightly tacky, but in a pretty way.
Silver cave is very pretty and you get a free headset in English (presumably other languages too). I can't believe that Reed Flute caves in Guilin are better, yet they are a lot more expensive.

Nice "little city" and a good base to see Xingping, the Silver Cave, Ruyi Peak and of course the cormorants (in Xingping). I'd love to have done Xianggong Hill. Most tourists do one of the two shows but I watched bits of the video and thought, not for me due to our limited time. I think 2 dinners in West Street might have added a bonus. Oh, try to get your Didi working.

I think Yangshou shines the best when you are trying off the beaten path things: climbing, caveing, trying local food (not just Kung Pao chicken, come on) and renting a scooter.
I'm genuinely impressed by the environment, people and abundance of culture of Yangshuo.
I tried a lot of local delicacies including oil tea 油茶,snail noodles 螺蛳粉 and beer fish. Definitely something you won't be able to try anywhere else. I liked first two, not the last one :)
I loved exploring surroundings via scooter, it is such a nice thing. And you have a chance to enjoy superb infrastructure of China. You won't believe me if I tell you that Yangshuo has highways with both motor- and bike- lanes. Simply amazing.
I recommend trying outdoor climbing and even caveing. There are many great spots (ask your hotel host, they should be able to tell you).
Come and enjoy.

An absolute wonder of a hotel! The village is one hour drive from the Yangshuo railway station, and the hotel offered us a transfer. The view from the balcony was amazing, and the balcony itself was huge. Everything we needed in the room was in place, towels were changed every day, the breakfast was delicious (especially noodles), and the personnel was always helpful with all the questions we had. An easy 10 out of 10, would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Yangshuo.
This hotel is utterly perfect and I recommend it to all. The views from the bedrooms, pool, restaurant are astounding. The staff are the quickest to respond and the most competent we have experienced across many China hotels. The small touches such as silk gowns, decent bathroom products, proper tea mugs, etc heighten the enjoyment. The western/Chinese restaurant was miles better than anything we found in town. We had
An amazing time and recommend the hotel to everyone
Lovely Asian style family room on the top floor, fantastic location in the old area, with lovely views and backs onto the Li River.
Very friendly lady who speaks English and is extremely helpful with great local advice.
Loved the terrapin, cat and dog!
Delicious breakfast included - lovely to have eggs, bacon and toast as well as fruit and yogurt after weeks in China. Also a delicious Asian breakfast on offer.
We really liked the guesthouse and the fact that the staff wass really friendly and that everyone speak in English. This is very valuable in China where very few people speak in English.q
