Shangri La was really cold this time of year. We switched hotels from somewhere freezing. Staying in Shangri la in Shangri la is a great option. On check in our room was upgraded to a room with a great view. it was lovely to watch the CNY fireworks from our room. Staff at this hotel are great they would top up our water (we needed lots of hot drinks to stay warm). I would recommend this hotel a lot.

The location is in ancient town and nearby many attractions and restuarants. The room is comfy and warm with the good facilities. The bathroom and shower is very good with hot water which make me fresh and warm after the long cold day. The bed and blanket is very warm. Staffs communicate in english very well. I was there in January, the room was very warm inside with AC and electric mattress, and very important there was always hot water. Good location opposite Guishan Park and the staff is really kind and helpful.

Shangri-La is a beautiful town, a little slice of Tibet in Yunnan. You can experience Tibetan architecture and culture without having to get a permit for Tibet proper. Unfortunately, the city is very high altitude. We got altitude sickness pretty badly and had to leave after one night. Next time I would bring some pills or allow enough time to adjust to the height before walking around.

The monastery next to the hotel is the star attraction but Shangri La old town is also great, check out the worlds largest prayer wheel and seek out the local food. Yak pizza is great.

Architecture is different from other places. Must visit to 松赞林寺 (Songzanlin Temple) and listen to what the guide explain to you in order to know more about the city and the culture of 藏族. Hopefully we have more than so that would be able to walk around 独克宗古城.

Shangri-La is plenty of mountains, animals, people, and lakes! I like to visit the mountains and life in Napa Lake. For traveling in Shangri-la you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountain. Also, the Tibetan temple is super awesome for visiting too!
The hostel is an original Tibetan house and run by a couple with the most romantic lovestory.
He, Korean, was backpacking through Shangri-la.
She, a local girl from one of the nearby villages, caught his eye.
They fell in love, got married and are now running the hostel conveniently located in the old town of Shangri-la. The food menu is a mixed of Western, local and Korean dishes, cooked by the lady of the house.
You are warmly welcomed and entertained by the couple and they will make your stay unforgettable!
Rooftop terrace is amazing! Set off early so can catch some sun before it goes away around 16:30. Room was as expected. The hotel is situated on the high trail, location on booking is wrong. Restaurant has excellent food and beer selection.
If you start from the ticket office this is the best spot, if you can catch a mini van up to Naxi guesthouse to start the hike it might come too soon.
1. Staff are very helpful, particularly Miss Seow Chang.

4. You can hang your laundry in the sun at the " laundry area"
I had an excellent stay at this hotel, the staff were super friendly. Especially 曹亚军 who took me on a sunrise hike and showed me around the town. Would definitely recommend and stay again 😊
