Comfy bed, water was hot, the staff despite the protestations that their English wasn't very good actually speak really good English. I'm just a fast talking rural Australian most people struggle to understand. They also didn't question me loudly clapping and shouting watching the NRL grand final in their courtyard. Amazing location near the old town at the foot of the mountains to boot. They have a western style toilet in addition to the squat toilet in the bathroom. The old school hand carved beds are really cool too.

The reception staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and speak very good English which is rare even in bigger cities and more expensive hotels, so very unusual that both have excellent English. The reception staff alone make this hotel a solid choice if you don't speak Mandarin and will need help finding your way around or booking cabs, finding restaurants and other places.

Great location. Walking distance to Dali ancient town with lots of eateries around. Great host - he greeted us when the taxi arrived and helped transfer our luggage to the lodging and our room. He also bought us breakfast and hung it outside our door when he found out that we had to check out at 6am to catch the train. The room was also spacious and comfortable! It was an enjoyable stay.
