City-Hotel Ochsen, hotel in Zug

Built in 1543, this hotel in the centre of Zug accommodated famous guests like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, yet it offers modern amenities like free internet and air-conditioning.

The hotel is a hidden gem right in centre of Zug. The property is very traditional with modern amenities. The staff is super co-operative and supporting. It is walking distance to the lake and all major attractions. Parking is not free (excepts for Sundays) but you can find couple of paid parking options nearby. The rooms we stayed in were amazing with nice interior design and a great view from all the windows. Our rental included the breakfast. It was not a huge menu but definitely you will enjoy having breakfast on the outside with great view.

SwissEver Zug Swiss Quality Hotel, hotel in Zug

Newly opened in March 2013, SwissEver Zug Swiss Quality Hotel offers modern rooms on the outskirts of Cham, just off the A4 motorway and 7 km from Zug.

Room is huge and we liked that our room faced away from the parking yard. Pretty much next to the highway, making it easy to leave the town. When windows are closed then you can’t hear the traffic noise. No A/C but the room is big and there was a fan in the room. We didn’t have trouble sleeping.

It’s a very quiet & beautiful little Swiss town that has everything you need for comfort and distance wise very reachable: restaurants, gyms, bars, commute, shops, etc. it’s especially known for amazing lakes, stalactite caves, wild green nature around, parks- incl a bird park by the lake and other peaceful poetic sights. The city is very clean.

The tax heaven on Switzerland. Quiet nice place to live.

The tax heaven on Switzerland. Quiet nice place to live. For tourism? Give me a break, it's country side. Outdoor activities, walking and enjoying big lake (Zugersee). But not really a tourist place. If you don't have business to do there, try in example Luzern and for city holidays Zurich.

Zug is very nice and amazing city, located at the beautiful lake Zugersee. I recommend following restaurants: Chez Ladur, Juanitos, Puccini, Zeno's and Sihlmatt in Menzingen. Transport in Zug is easy, but you can reach interesting place in a short time just walking.

My wife and I both enjoyed the lakefront as well as the restaurants that are to be found in that area. The sunset on a clear summer night as one wound look across the water to the alps is among the most beautiful in the world. Located between Zurich and Luzern, Zug provides easy access to both.

This is my birthplace, a tax haven and therefore full of foreign companies who have their postboxes and offices here. You hear more English than Swiss German, but it still has a very Swiss feel about it. Lovely location on the lake, with a small old town, some excellent shops, 2 or 3 nice cafes (one where Audrey Hepburn used to eat Zuger Kirschtorte), and fantastic views onto the Rigi and beyond - the Alps. Lots of opportunities to take walks through fields and forests, go for swims in the lake, excellent public transport. Easy and quick to reach Lucerne, Zurich, Schwyz etc. You can also take the bus up to Unter- and Oberägeri, with a smaller, but very attractive lake, and lovely views over Lake Zug on the way.

Zug is a very cosmopolitan town between Zurich and Luzern, basically a business town but with a lovely old town and beautiful lake, If you have the time, visit Rigi mountain, with spectacular views or take a ferry round the lake and have lunch on the boat. In winter, take in an ice hokey game or ice skate on the rink outside.

Löwen is a small but nice family hotel in the best spot in Zug. you have their own fantastic restaurant as well as another 4 or 5 nice restaurants around the same little quaint square. all of this is on the waters edge, so you can take the ferry or a dip in the lake, all literally on your doorstep.
