Great location, staff are friendly and view is amazing. Very simple to locate from the train station with a 10 minute walk. The location is right next to the cable carts up to the mountain for the perfect hike and spectacular view. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Where the hotel is situated Nice balcony with a great view of the mountains, soothing bird sounds, and a bus stop that is conveniently located (free travel with hotel city card). lovely breakfast and spacious room.
(Alarmingly, another private bed) neighbouring sites, to name a few Lake Oeschinen, the tobogun run, the train station and the bus stop next to the hotel are all eight minutes' walk away. Get the city card from the hotel as a tip. The receptionist gave electric converter.

This is a huge hotel, with an enormous bar, and spacious spa area. Our room was enormous. The staff were very friendly. The surrounding area is stunning, and you are in a great location for walking. The hotel is dog friendly.

Wonderful hostel full of character and history. I absolutely loved it and the staff we fantastic, friendly and so welcoming.

Very nice and quiet region, perfect for relaxation. Breathtaking scenery .We had a pleasant and also challenging hike to the nearby Lake. Kandersteg is a perfect place to stay and go around with car/train. We also paid a visit to Jungfrau Joch, which was memorable.

Kandersteg is a wonderful village in a beautiful setting with lots to offer but is relatively quiet compared to other similar locations nearby. It's a wonderful place to getaway and be surrounded by farms, nature, elements and silence.

We went in late summer and walked in a different part of the surrounding mountains every day. Good cable car access to or from higher areas but also options to walk to the mountains/lakes from Kandersteg. Local buses and trains are free with the area guest pass and there is 20% off cable car fares. Several restaurants to choose from for meals and coop etc to buy picnic. Beautiful village. Only 2 hour train journey from Basel. Kandersteg tourist office website has info on many local walks with interactive maps.

At the altitude of Kandersteg, wildflowers are at their peak in early to mid June.
The place is suitable for children (the Rodelbahn), the more accomplished climbers (the Via Ferrata), and everyone in between. It's a gateway to beautiful places for hikers of various abilities, e.g. the Gasterntal, the Allmenalp, the Gemmi Pass, the Oeschinnensee, the various alpine huts. Perhaps that's why the International Scouts Centre is situated in Kandersteg.
Everything within the village is within a 10-minute walk. Anything further can be reached by hourly bus service (free with guest card).

Stunning mountain scenery, fantastic walking via cable cars. We received free passes for the cable cars as part of a village-wide promotion for a 3 + night stay. Very good public swimming pool in the village - used every day due to hot weather.
The staff was kind and helpful. The room and facilities were pretty basic but that was to be expected. Bed was ok. Bathroom and toilet a bit small but worked well so I have no complaint. The room size was ok for the price. The hotel is located around the outer village of Kandersteg and I think for the ski season, it should be very good indeed. There is a lift for heavy luggages, disabled people, etc. In short, the hotel and the room was good value for money and served my purpose well. Thank you.
Peaceful for a good night sleep and the beds were so comfortable.
Only a 7-10min walk to the Kandersteg station and less than 5min walk to connect to Gondola ticket station to complete the Oeschininsee Lake hike.
Breakfast was fresh, perfectly cooked and the variety was great!
Also, staff/owners were friendly and accomodating and helped with any requests or questions.
the coolest place to stay in switzerland, a chic house with a gorgeous view of the mountains, perfect cleanliness, the house has everything you need, a helpful owner who is always in touch. This is the best place I have ever been to. recommend 100%
