I like fun and quaint small hotels and this ticked all the boxes. I got the attic room with great view and small balcony- definitely worth the price. Really cosy. Location is excellent. Interlaken Ost station is 5mins walk away. The row of watch Boutiques are right in front. You can admire paragliders from your hotel balcony and listen to the church bells ring ever so often. Room is clean, comfy bed, hot shower and nice towels. Interlaken is a tourist hotspot, the tourism agency people are very pleasant and helpful, On a previous trip we went to the high alpine peaks, simply magnificent, Using cable cars and railway to get to some of the highest peaks in Europe.
This time we explored the nature reserve and the town itself. An enjoyable experience too.
It is a site of extremely beautiful sights.

Beautiful town at the gateway of the Jungfrau region, you can get to most sightseeing in the area - e.g. Grindelwald, Eiger Express, Jungfraujoch, Lauterbrunnen, Murren - within a morning, sometimes barely an hour. If you get the Jungrfrau Travel Pass you save a LOT on trains and cable cars and can go around the whole region from Interlaken. Beautiful mountain views from the town too.
The Lake Thun river cruise was spectacular too, as was the smaller town of Thun at the other end.
Interlaken itself is relatively flat and very easy to walk around, excellent restaurants, supermarket, coffee shops, and plenty of souvenir shops.
Highly recommended for solo travellers, lots to do. Not far by train from Bern or Zurich.

We stayed for two nights, only had one full day, and could have used one more day - or more. We did take a train/gondola up to Murrën. It was worth the trip!! Didn't get to paragliding but that looks like a fabulous experience.

Some warm weather activities shut down when we visited...
Some warm weather activities shut down when we visited Interlaken over Veterans Day weekend. Check schedules when visiting this time of year for boats, castles and cable cars; though, still lots to see, do and taste. Interlaken was overcast, but Niederhorn was bright and sunny above. It’s about 30-40 min (free) bus ride to cable car station, then 18 min cable car ride to summit. Hike along the ridge is awesome (10.7 km, 3-4 hours, moderate difficulty)!
If taking Golden Pass panoramic train from/to Montreux, confirm the route is operating. Currently SBB is providing a nice tour bus for the one hour part of that trip between Montbovon and Montreux, due to track maintenance. This applies to both directions of travel. If you don’t mind the bus part, any ticket for travel between Interlaken and Montreux lets you ride the Golden Pass route right now between Interlaken and Montbovon, and includes the bus part between Montbovon and Montreux, e.g., ticket types IR, RE, etc.

Beautiful town and lots,to do train station and can do many trips up the mountains. Restaurants souvenir shops McDonalds and some lovely cafes. Chocolate is lovely too.
Easy to get around by foot and plenty of transport. Good supermarkets.. Swiss cheese pies are absolutely lovely!!!!

staff were very helpful with planning our four days and very nice. the hostel is very big with lots of entertainment and spaces to chill. there's a jacuzzi, chess, a bar, a mini club, lots of chairs and couches and a dining room where everyone eats. the kitchen is great, there are like four stovetop ovens with a microwave and bench. lots of utensils to share, and like four big fridges. very handy to cook when it's so expensive in switzerland to eat out. bus is free in interlaken area for people staying here and the stop is near.
Great breakfast with freshly cooked eggs. Good selection. Nice common room always available tea and coffee. Excellent location. Overall the hotel had everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Hotel is a bit dated but you its clean and you get everything you need. Important to realise for Switzerland this is par for average so it is not fair to be expecting 5-star modern accommodations at this price.
Waldhotel Unspunnen is an absolute treasure in the Swiss Alps! The historic charm and photogenic beauty of this place are a photographer's dream. I was lucky to have a room with an amazing view of the summit of Jungfrau . The staff's warmth and hospitality made the experience even more special.
