Horgen is a charming little village, lovely to walk around. It has a quaint centre and a beautiful waterfront. Easy travel into Zurich by train. Easy travel to mountains and skiing by train or car.
Good supermarkets with good opening hours.
We didn’t try the restaurants as we were visiting relatives but we did get a great takeaway - burritos. You can even swim in Lake Zurich by walking down to the waterside at various points.

Cons:-
1. It's far from all the tourist attractions in Zurich.
2. Owner lady doesn't give any privacy with her constant questions and sermons. Self and wife felt like living in school hostel. Too much of interference.
3. There is no lock in the room door from inside.
This unpretentious hotel offers quiet rooms with lake views and a decent breakfast at hard to beat rates. The host is agreeable and flexible, arranging for late arrivals thanks to a key lockbox. Horgen can very easily be reached by S-Bahn from Zurich, and there are busses to the station 2x/hour passing right in front of the hotel.
It’s in a great location, right opposite the train station (Horgen) and the rail system is pretty easy to use. You can also get buses just outside. The internal decor is also beautiful.
