Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.
It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.
Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.
Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 140-metre high fountain in the centre of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.
With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.
Geneva is good for a 1-day stopover. Public transportation is easy to use and there are some good sights downtown (UN, Botanical Gardens, Lakefront.) It can serve as an easy starting point for getting into the beautiful Alps. The airport is small for an international airport making it much easier than many other major European airports.

Lovely clean city but very expensive.
Lovely clean city but very expensive. Lots if museums and art galleries to visit, some are free. The free travel pass supplied by the tourist office was a god send. Tourist tax of 52CF a bit steep for a week. But covered by the free travel pass?

Lovely city to explore with plenty to see.
Lovely city to explore with plenty to see. If you manage to get the free tourist transport card included in your accommodation costs it makes getting around Geneva very easy. Transport is regular but trams can get busy. A visit to CERN is worth considering and is free to see interactive exhibits with tram 18 taking you there. Eating out is expensive so if on a budget maybe consider an apartment.

Geneva was very festive on the first day, even snowed a bit, but next day rained heavily, snowed washed away and you couldn't see the mountains. But that's out of everybody's control, the first day we had an amazing view of the alps, it was bright and crisp. The Christmas Market was lovely, everything we expected it to be. Be aware - it is extremely expensive - but you can find cheaper places to eat, and just be canny with your spending money!

Lots of lovely shops and things to see.
Lots of lovely shops and things to see. Would recommend visit to United Nations. Eating out can be expensive. A lot of places are within walking distance or use the free Travel card issued by hotel to get around. We took Flixbus to Annecy and would recommend visiting there. Lots of individual small shops and there were Christmas market stalls. Picturesque mini Venice style area. Would be nice to go back to see in summer as would be busier and more boats would be running for trips on the lake.

It is so easy to get around.
It is so easy to get around. Everything is so well organised. The city celebrates each season in its decorations and activities. The food is just wonderful and all budgets are catered for. The lake, the Jet d'eau and the mountains are beautiful, as is the brightness of the winter sun illuminating it all. The people are charmingly courteous. It is a fabulous place - I love it.

Very good location for a 4 days visit of Geneva. Easy reach from airport, bus stop just a few step away, with free public transport passes (available for all guests during your stay) we managed to get to see all the sights.
Hotel was very new, everything was clean and marked in English. Staff were all helpful.
Guest Kitchen was a handy addition, as the food in Switzerland restaurants are very expensive compared to England.
This is one of my favourite hotels. Rooms are on the small side but there’s everything one might need. Super clean. Very quiet
Max 10 min walk to the airport, with its shops and restaurants. Short ride to Balexert shopping, to UN, city centre.
For Geneva hotel prices, this is an economical option combined with high standards
Location is perfect to explore Geneva. Very central and steps away from Geneva old town and Lakeside attractions. Bed is super comfortable.
Best value-for-money hotel in Geneva.
