This room was booked at the absolute last minute when my daughter was stranded in Chur late at night after her train was cancelled.
It is less than 3 minutes from the station and staff at check in were very kind, and even lent her a phone charger. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast as excellent.
The Hotel Franziskaner is housed in a charming historical building in the Old Town of Chur. The famous Churer Obertor is 50 metres away, and the train station can be reached on foot in 8 minutes.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location, in the old town, was good for sightseeing, yet within walking distance of the station. The hotel had a ground floor bar/restaurant which was no more expensive than comparable establishments, and I ate there every evening.

The service was exceptional. The staff member, particularly the gentleman Jan at the reception was attentive and friendly. Breakfast exceeded my expectations. A bath robe was provided.

We were staying a few nights before boarding the Bernina Express but I'm sure there was more to see and do if we'd been there longer. We ate out both nights. Restaurants were not cheap but food was lovely. One thing that confused us was what seemed a huge expense for a bottle of fairly ordinary wine. In both of the places we ate, the cheapest bottle of wine was equivalent to £50. The wine in supermarkets was priced as you would normally expect so no idea why it was so dear in restaurants. We only ate in 2 places though so perhaps others were different.

Fantastic village to take Bernina Express.
Fantastic village to take Bernina Express. However, if yo wish to take Bernina, then dont rent a car rather buy Swiss rail passes which seem expensive but then all transport is free and you get 50% off on Bernina express, Glacier express, and all private rides like Titlis Air and others. So this is well worth a spend.

Chur is a beautiful place to do short trip in Switzerland . Very safe place to walk even at night time. The alleyways are great piece of architecture and lots of choices for small boutiques and restaurants in Affordable price. You won't get lost in Chur as it is only straight line to the main train station. Frankishner Hotel offered an amazing dish and cheese fondue at reasonable price, very professional staff and great atmosphere inside the restaurant

We only stayed 1 night in Chur and were thus unable to fully explore the town itself and the surrounding area. There is a good range of shops, historic buildings and churches (especially the cathedral) which are worth visiting. It's not a large town but there are several attractive squares to wander around and, like most places in Switzerland, extremely clean and tidy. We ate at a very good restaurant/bar called Calanda - great service/atmosphere/food and drink choices.

The cable car was fantastic, would have stayed another day just to take full advantage of this… However it’s very expensive in Chur… eating out was prohibitive for us due to how much it would have cost, we could stay in a good apartment in Bolzano Italy for one night for the same cost as a meal for two.. even buying food from the supermarket is expensive… btw Bolzano is a fantastic place to visit ..
Great location on the edge of the pedestrianised town centre and within a stone’s throw of the station, so perfect for those touring Switzerland by rail, like us, but seemingly with plenty of parking available for anyone with a car.
Comfortable bed and different pillow types are available if booked in advance with the hotel direct.
Excellent lighting (at least in Room 506 - a superior twin).
Quality breakfast with plenty of choice.
Helpful reception staff.
This is a wonderful hotel in a good location. 5 minute bus ride up to the old township of Chur for sight seeing and restaurants .
Close to fast food outlets. The room was decent with great views, staff were very helpful.
The hotel was an amazing, situated just few minutes from Chur train station.
Our room was with a nice mountains view from room window.
Breakfast was so delicious and good assorted with food.
The hotel room size was good. The view fromt the hotel is impeccable. Chur city view right from the room. The connectivity to Chur Station via bus. Bus stop right outside the hotel.
