Clean and comfortable, and ideally placed to explore the old town of Basel. Walking distance to Munster, Spalentor, town hall, River and lots of museums etc of the medieval town. Staff really helpful and we were able to leave our bags while we explored Basel on our last day. We're given a BaselCard by receptionist which meant we could use public transport for free (which is the best transport we've ever used, so so reliable) and discounts of museum etc entry.

At the meeting point of Switzerland, Germany and France, Basel is an eclectic mix of historic and modern, tranquil and vibrant. With Swiss cleanliness and efficiency thrown in for good measure.
Augusta Raurica on its outskirts houses a well-preserved Roman theatre, while the Old Town is a museum of medieval buildings. The Renaissance Town Hall looks down on Marktplatz’s daily market, while the red sandstone and colourful tiles of the Münster were reconstructed in the 19th century. Bringing it right up to date are the modern creations of city residents Herzog & De Meuron, designers of London’s Tate Modern.
When you’ve finished exploring this architectural heritage, there are still plenty of things to do in Basel. The city’s fine art museum is the world’s oldest art collection, and the zoo is the oldest and largest in Switzerland. Remember to bring plenty of Swiss francs for the shopping mile along Clarastrasse and Freiestrasse.
The Basel accommodation on Booking.com ranges from hotels in Grossbasel to B&Bs in Kleinbasel, home to the nightlife. If you’re flying into Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport in February or March you might just catch Fasnacht: Switzerland’s biggest carnival. You’ll have to get up early to see it start though - 4am!
Visit was for Christmas markets which were most enjoyable.
Visit was for Christmas markets which were most enjoyable. Plenty of cafes and restaurants however we mainly used food and drink outlets at markets as why we were there. City also had Christmas courtyards which were decorated and made for a pleasant evening visiting these.
Quite a picturesque city on the river with cathedral worth visiting particularly climbing up tower for views and climb within tower itself. Plenty of museums if you're into that sort of thing too.
Good transport to/from airport and around city itself.

Excellent public transport, but easy walking as well.
Excellent public transport, but easy walking as well. Lovely cafes and bars with good food, beer and wine. But not the cheapest city. The market hall was excellent, with a great selection of different food stalls. Being over the Christmas period the Christmas markets, decorations and events were delightful and had a really pleasant atmosphere. The people were lovely; helpful and spoke good English to help us out getting around the city.

Beautiful exotic city in the middle of a multilingual multicultural context. Very conveniently located and full of historical attractions. I had very little chance to see everything but what I have seen was splendid! Therefore, I would go there again to see more!
