The rooms are cozy, comfortable and exceptionally clean. The distinguishing feature of the Osteria Ascona is its attentive and cordial staff. Pretty town with traditional architecture, rather than Locarno which is bigger and appeared more modern. Lots to do with boat trips and easily accessible to Locarno for cable car and panoramic views of the lake. Also lots of walking possibilities once you have taken the cable car. Also plenty of good restaurants although we ate at our hotel both nights which was excellent.

The Locarno-Ascona area deserves about 3 days to enjoy fully. The islands were affected by recent storms. 2 days didn’t had time for Golf and Monte Veritable , I chose Carnada. In Ascona you can do treasure hunt and kid receives a small toy bonus.

Very beautiful city, but tremendously expensive. The prices seem fairly typical for Switzerland, but can be a shock when coming from elsewhere. It is almost impossible to have a proper meal for less than 20Frs, and even a plate of French fries or a hot sandwich is like 7 or 8Frs.

Ascona is a wonderful place.
Ascona is a wonderful place. Nice waterfront and restaurants along the shore side. Very calm and beautiful. Many places to visit around. Boat ride along the river was fantastic. Mount Tamaro was very excellent. Thrilling sludge ride and rope rides were excellent. We went a for a trekking with Lama with children which was much enjoyed.
Did not have time to visit Brisago island. So will go again.
The staff at Hotel La Perla were all lovely and friendly and polite. I lost an expensive bracelet whilst there, and I believe a member of staff handed it in at reception, which I was very grateful for.
We stayed in the villa, which was spacious, and it was cleaned to a high standard.
There was plenty of choice for breakfast each morning.
