The view from the hotel rooms and from the restaurant was amazing. The service was great and the food at the restaurant both breakfast and dinner was fresh and delicious. European standards and Swiss specialties, something for everyone. The hotel location was excellent, we were able to access many beautiful hiking trails by foot.

Room was small for a family and very basic, bed and bathroom. So we upgraded to the apartment which was way better, fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms.

The rooms are newly renovated and very clean and comfortable. Large bathroom and shower. Bright rooms in the daytime. A large desk and sofa complete the room. Free parking in front of the property. A fantastic breakfast is served in the downstairs restaurant. And dinners a la carte on their terrace were delicious. Best of all is the Bleiker family who run the Gasthaus - they are very friendly and make you feel most welcome.

There are great medium and easy slopes and tons of dining options for the small area. The walk around the lake was beautiful, we loved our stay at Hotel Sonne, and the ski rental was very easy. We had delicious Thai food in Weesen and great drinks on the mountain.

As a village Amden itself does not have a center where there...
As a village Amden itself does not have a center where there are usually shops, restaurants. The main street leads to the lake or further up to the mountains. There are though many hiking paths and ski slopes nearby.

I love Amden!
I love Amden! I pretty much go there many weekends since it's so close to Zürich and easy to get to. There's tons to do here - hiking trails such as Leistchamm / Mattstock, awesome restaurants such as Holzstübli with their yummy chäshörnli, lovely locals, etc. Tons of scenic Swiss countryside and moo moo cows everywhere.
The owners were very kind! We spontaneously made a booking on the evening of, and the owner graciously waited up to let us in, which we really appreciated. He was friendly and welcoming, and the hotel is quaint with lots of sheep decorations! I heard from locals that the Indian dinner is excellent, so will have to return and check it out sometime :) The bus stop is right in front so it could be convenient to get to.
the apartment is incredible nice and comfortable. super clean, with everything you need in the kitchen and the close to everywhere in Amden. has a fantastic view of the mountains. paradise for hikers in Summer. can imagine that should be also great in winter for the snow lovers. my family and friends had a fantastic time there.
It's a 3.5 room apartment near amden center, very clean and equipped with more than expected facilities especially the kitchen... For our short family vacation it's absolutely a great experience and pleasure with Schwendihaus.
