This is a wonderful place to stay. Staff was friendly and very accommodating to our visit. The location is tucked away from the city life so it was calm, quiet and peaceful, yet very close to the nearby town for amenities. Views of the mountains and fresh snow were great! Will be staying here for our next visit to Interlaken area.

What a wonderful find. Highly recommend. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Views amazing. Complimentary welcome drink set the tone for our stay and we were not disappointed. Bed was very comfy, lovely linen, room was designed well.

A luxurious hotel located near the center of the town of Spiez and overlooking Lake Thun and Spiez Castle. For car owners, the hotel has a large underground parking lot at a very reasonable cost of 12 francs for 24 hours, but you have to reserve the parking lot in advance. The hotel staff is very friendly and helped us a lot in planning our trip around the Thun and Brienz lakes. The rooms are very spacious, clean, and well equipped. The toilet and shower are separated, so two people can use them at the same time, which saves a lot of time. The breakfast is excellent and rich. The hotel has a heated pool and spa.

Quiet, idyllic, mountainside area with beautiful views. Easily accessed by car from the north, and by a train ferrying cars from Brig in the south to Kandersteg. Lots of hiking, biking, and other mountainside options with easy access to Interlaken and the surrounding tourist spots.

Quiet little town with excellent links to neighbouring larger towns. Many farms in the neighbourhood have a wee fridge containing their own cheese or smoked sausage etc. Simply pay at their honesty box and enjoy the flavours of the local countryside….ready made picnics for our walks.

What an excellent hotel. On arrival Celine (the manager) greeted us like friends who were coming to stay in her house. She is a happy and very helpful manager for whom nothing is too much trouble. She upgraded our room, and booked us dinner in a restaurant by the lake in Spiez. The room was impeccably clean, with a balcony from which we could watch the sunset over the mountains. This hotel is thoroughly recommended, and I would love to return.
The location of Hotel Sunnmatt is just amazing, a short car / bus ride from Spiez and the lake, but high enough up to enjoy alpine meadows with glimpses of the high mountains. The owners, Theo and his wife, are lovely. The hotel is simply furnished, breakfast is continental style, but perfectly adequate. Aeschi is a lovely little village with the basic amenities you need, supermarket, restaurant / bar, bakery, bank.
The view from the hotel is absolutely stunning, the terrace is a place you can spend hours on. It is in a relatively remote location, so you do feel like you are in the mountains. The restaurant was also pleasant even if a bit expensive. I would definitely stay here again.
Large room with great views, excellent sauna. As per some comments, it is not the most modern hotel anymore, but it still has its charm. Everything was functional and clean.
