My husband has a gluten intolerance. Our hosts went out of their way to ensure that he not only had a breakfast but that it was a very good breakfast. Another major plus of this home away from home was the way our hosts made us feel welcome and part of the family.

The room was as expected, but the bathroom could use an upgrade as there were a few mold spots. Breakfast was included; it wasn’t the greatest, but it was okay. The front desk staff was great during check-in.
This was our second trip to North Sydney. This trip we used as bookends to our ferry trip to and from Newfoundland. This is a quiet little town, surrounded by incredible beauty. The Black Spoon is a must if you enjoy good food. Friendly people and lots to do. NS would be a good home base for exploring the area.

The principal reason to travel to North Sydney is to take the Newfoundland ferry. As such, there are not really any attractions in the town. For travellers passing through, there are a few accommodations, restaurants and fast food outlets that offer good quality. Access to the Trans-Canada Highway is easy and quick.

We arrived on a Monday and found out there were very limited options for dinner (Chinese or Italian, i.e. pizza). Those choices did not suit us, so we had to drive to Sydney. It was not very far (maybe 20 minute drive), but there were lots of options in Sydney.
