Good basic room. Clean and the front desk team managed to get us checked in early, which was great as we were able to put all our luggage into the room before we returned our rental car. They also stored our many suitcases on our last day before we went to the airport.
Easy to get into downtown Vancouver on the Skytrain, but it is 30+ minutes from the hotel including the walk. Often no seats on the train so if mobility is an issue, it would be worth staying closer to Vancouver. We really enjoyed some of the restaurants in Burnaby and not having to drive our rental car in downtown, so this was not an issue for us.
Breakfast was okay - what you expect from a North American breakfast buffet. Wouldn't have paid money for it, but it was good as a freebie. Coin laundry was really appreciated and useful.
Renovated in 2022 and featuring an outdoor pool, the Holiday Inn Express Vancouver-Metrotown is only 12 km away from Vancouver city centre. A microwave and refrigerator are available in each room.

The brick buildings are beautiful. It's nice walking along the river, and dining beside it. Lots of history. A couple of good museums. There's live theatre. Queen's Park is a lovely park, with a rose garden.

I love New Westminster!
I love New Westminster! Is it a little bit gritty down on Columbia Street? Yes, a little but it's real. There's a multitude of eating choices, great coffee shops, lots of shopping choices (especially bridal and prom dresses) including the Quay which is lovely for a wander and some lunch! (Currently seem to be doing construction in the immediate vicinity so interested to see what that will add). There's still lots of old buildings which I love and a walk around Queens Park is lovely on a nice day too. There's more shopping up sixth street with even more of everything you might need. There's good transport with skytrain and buses (and lots of big hills so the option to jump on a bus up is lovely!) I highly recommend a good wander around New West, you are unlikely to be disappointed! My favourite places include Angelina's Dutch Corner in the Quay for lunch, the Arundel Mansions or The Met Hotel to stay and a long wander around Queens Park!

See Queen's Park and the surrounding old-style homes (as seen on X-Files and Stargate Universe).
The Fraser River Discovery Centre is excellent.
The New Westminster River Market and Quay is worth checking out.
There are some nice restaurants nearby including at New Westminster Skytrain Station the very family-friendly Old Spaghetti Factory which is also a great place to hang out while you are waiting to get into your accommodation.
The Samson V Museum was also fun to check out - it's a Steamboat from 1937 also to be found on the Quay.

The atmosphere of the city is good, and there are many restaurants from casual to high-class,so you can spend a comfortable time. Because there were few travelers, I was able to spend time in a calm atmosphere, and I felt that it was a safe area.

It is slowly getting revitalized.
It is slowly getting revitalized. There is an awesome boardwalk promenade one can walk along parallel to the river. Market and skytrain (Vancouver' Subway) has 3 stations in New Westminster. Downtown main street is oid looking but very slowly getting refreshed and lots of new residential towers being built.

We chose this area as it far more affordable than a more central location and we had a car, so parking was a consideration.
However Vancouver traffic is very busy , so getting to dwontown was a good 45 -60 minute drive. It was not so bad for tha day trip to Whistler though.
If you chose to stay here a car is essential.
There are a lot of Chinese restaurants and grocery stores in the area.

The front desk Staff are amazing: efficient, kind and very helpfull. The hotel is located in a quiet and nice area with a few shops and restaurants in walking distance. Easy and fast public transportation to downtown Vancouver (45 minutes).
Easy check-in and very quiet neighborhood. Very clean place. Had an extra bed which was a nice surprise. Bathroom had towels and shampoo, things you would only expect in a hotel so this was a nice touch.
Omg best hotel ever . It's the only hotel I can sleep in. The beds are so comfy, and the pillows are like clouds. It's very quiet . Awsome view I have stayed in 404 and 606 . I would highly recommend 👌
I appreciate the character of the hotel, from the sitting areas in the common areas between the rooms to the high arches around the windows in the rooms. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
