It was great! It’s like a small apartment rather than just a hotel room. It has everything you need to spend a few days and explore around. ( sink and microwave and toaster, coffee machine, cutlery, plates and glasses, nice flat TV and sofa), we felt “at home” for the long weekend.

Do not stay here! Rude front desk clerk. I arrived at 2:30pm and said "Hi, I'm here to check in." Her response in a nasty voice "No you're not." Apparently the checkout time is 4pm. I tried to show her a printout of my booking.com reservation and she wouldn't even look at it. The place is old and dirty. The breakfast is minimalistic. The town itself is nice. Do your self a favor and stay someplace else.

Beautiful city close to some mesmerizing regions of Alberta...
Beautiful city close to some mesmerizing regions of Alberta and BC. Yoho national park is next door with its gorgeous Emerald Lake and Takkekaw falls. Kicking horse river right outside Golden has some of the best White water rafting tours nearby. There is also the Grizzly refuge within the Kicking horse mountain resort and the gondola as well. Right out on city limits is the Golden Skybridge which hosts the highest suspension bridge in Canada and a host of interesting adventure activities for adults and kids! Golden has great hotels and motels as well and about an hour away is the Radium Hot springs for those relaxing dips in the hot water pools.

An excellent “home base” from which to drive & experience the newly upgraded TransCanada Hwy #1 from Golden to Field return.

Golden is a very quiet town with some good restaurants (wolf’s den, eleven22 , rockwater grill). It is 1h15 from lake Louise and less than 1h from emerald lake, wapta falls. It has a lot of wildlife and nice Hikes and lodge like Golden Acres mountain lodge which is the best lodge I have ever been .
Avoid the crowds of Banff and go to Golden for a more quiet stay away from crowds of tourists .

A fantastic basecamp for hiking in the Canadian Rockies. Lots of high quality restaurants and friendly people. Relatively short drive to Yoho NP and Glacier NP. Dreamcatcher Hostel was an excellent place to stay.

A great place to break a long drive on the TCH and for outdoor recreation there are plenty of opportunities. River based recreation shines. There are several good restaurants and we recommend The Turning Point.
The man at the front desk was super friendly when I checked in.

It's a great location, within easy walking distance to the main part of downtown Golden.
Not sure if the indoor pool and hot tubs were open, but the outdoor pool will be open in a couple of weeks. Great facility.
We have been staying at Mary's for about 20 years, ever since our kids were young. Because of the pools. And we stay there now because of the outdoor pool, and the location.
We have stayed at Basecamp Golden a few times. It has a very cozy atmosphere and is conveniently located close to downtown, the road to Kicking Horse ski hill and the highway. The beds are very comfortable and we like having a fridge in the room to store delicious leftovers from Red Tomato Pies and Reposados (if we can control ourselves and not eat it all). There is also a great common lounge area with fireplace and freely accessible oatmeal and hot beverages.
Last minute booking to show visitors what the Canadian Rockies have to offer. Great location and very friendly, accommodating and entertaining staff. Thanks for accommodating our special asks! We had a gret stay in Golden.
