Sun Creek Lodge, hotel in Punta Gorda

Featuring garden views, Sun Creek Lodge in Punta Gorda features accommodation and a terrace. There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay.

Wonderful stay at sun creek - we wanted something simple in the jungle and this place was better than expected. The whole garden was beautiful and the rooms great. Loved the outside bathroom! We were there in august and worried a little about the heat as there is no AC but with the standing fan it was just fine. I'd seen reviews talking about dog and traffic noise, but we weren't disturbed by anything and slept well. It's a hut in the jungle so yes there were some bugs but that's normal. We fell asleep watching a gecko scuttle across the ceiling eating mosquitos and moths, comfy under the mosquito net. The couple who run the hotel are lovely and the breakfast was delicious. Would come back if we're ever in the area again!

Eva and the rest of the staff were superb in being helpful and sharing information. Lisa was such a gracious host, sharing of herself and interested in us as well. The building is very clean and there were plenty of towels. The hot shower was appreciated. The location is central and an easy walk to quite a few restaurants. The breakfasts that were included with our booking were delicious and nourishing. We also really appreciated the chance to fill our water bottles with clean water whenever we needed to!

PG is a quaint coastal town. It has all 7 tribes of Belize represented in the town. There are nice restaurants on the water overlooking the Caribbean Sea. There are Mayan ruins close to the town to visit. A hikers paradise!

Not much is happening in Punta Gorda.

Not much is happening in Punta Gorda. There are a few restaurants, many bars on Front Street, and a large market down town. It seems that people from outlying towns come here to shop. We stopped as a way point from San Pedro, Belize, to Livingston, Guatemala. At this time, ferries between the two run only once a day, five days a week. We came on a Saturday, expecting to catch the Sunday ferry, but had to stay over until Monday.

It is a part of Belize that has not been inundated by foreigners seeking warmer temperatures in the winter. The community is on the coast and it is very small but it gives the visitor a sense of the diversity of the Belizean population and the culture of Belize. It is possible to stay at interesting places and there are several interesting archaelogical sites in the area. There are good restaurants there as well.

If you are in Belize - we recommend everyone to come all the way to the south and discover the Maya Mountains and see Punta Gorda. If you are here on a Market day - don't miss it and come to stroll through the market. you will enjoy it. Remember this is a tiny town and there are not that many attractions as well there are no beaches. But you will find a lot of very nice people and great local restaurants. If you are here your amongst the Belizean people
