The drive up from Bela Horizonte takes a good 3 hours as Brazilian roads are not the best 😄 The national park is well worth a visit and the staff are very helpful. You need to be reasonably mobile to get to the waterfalls. It a good 8km hike or you can rent mountain bikes (about 15€ for the day). The falls at Farofa are stunning and the wildlife is amazing- we saw a Tegu, a Toucan and filmed Hummingbirds.

Great place to visit!
Great place to visit! We love it especially on weekdays when it is more quiet and not too crowded at the waterfalls. Cachoeira Grande is the closest waterfall with few places to swim, few times went there already and will be back again!

There is the little town Serra do Cipo and there is the Natural Park Serra do Cipo. The park is huge that it has 3 main entrances. You can chose from several trails and waterfalls, graded according to the level of difficulty. The picturesque town is outside the park , there you’ll enjoy plenty of movement, it is almost always filled with visitors, some passing by, and some staying over at the many hotels, guesthouses, and home rentals. Regarding food and shopping, well, there are many restaurants, bistros, ice cream shops and souvenir stores. It can be visited on a day trip from Belo Horizonte, it is just a 2 hours drive, in fact locals do so to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Serra do Cipo and its surroundings, specially from the lookout points set on the road.

This quite rugged mountain range is a short 1 1/2- 2 hour drive from Belo Horizonte..... most of the tourists are from there. Weekends can be crowded, weekdays are quiet. Excellent hiking trails, quite wild once you are an hour or two on the trail. Waterfalls with beautiful pools to swim in are controlled access nowadays, with entrance fees and eager guards checking that you don't smuggle alcohol in. The good old days (just 5 years ago) were more relaxed. This place grows on you, as it is wilder and much larger than it looks when you first arrive. Accommodations and restaurants are plentiful and cheap.

A cool, quirky, friendly and unique stay in Serra do Cipó! With only a few bungalows it's very exclusive and there was a fantastic novelty to having breakfast in a tropical paradise with a Doors vinyl playing in the background! The location is great and within walking distance of numerous food and drink options for the evenings. Also special mention to the host Guilherme who went out of his way to help us with everything and speaks fantastic English (a rarity in Serra do Cipó).
The pousada is located in the quiet area, in the lush garden. You can easily park your car next to your room. Breakfast is very good, you can ask for scrambled eggs in addition to other available options. Dona Mariza makes sure her guests feel taken care of. We loved sitting in front of our room, looking at the garden and the mountains.
It's a very cosy and clean pousada.
The owners are so nice and help you wherever they can.
The breakfast is really good !
The 'rock theme' is very original and nice.
It's located in a very quiet and safe Street.
This is a lovely Pousada very close to the centre of town and the national park. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are simple but modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable.
