Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.
Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.
The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – it's unforgettable, but the fun doesn't end there. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, where trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.
Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take a cable car up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.
Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘ Marvelous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.

You see a lot of different cultures in Brazil/Rio which I like. Different cultures provide an opportunity to enjoyed different food options. We had a wonderful time in Rio, safely, without any problems. Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf tours are great.
But Brazil is a poor country. My cousin and some of her friends from Sao Paulo have experienced robberies etc. I'm sure the crime situation is similar in Rio. Knowing that fact we didn't wear any jewelry etc. and protected our cell phones.

It's not easy to put into words what one feels when they go to Rio. I was sceptical and not particularly excited about the trip and it superseded my expectations in all possible ways. The people were lovely, food was amazing and the overall experience left us wanting to go back for more. We were super excited to find out the first day of non-official carnival started the first Sunday of the year and had a blast. We loved eating at the top of a favela, meeting new people and having the most interesting conversations. We loved Rio, we felt like we never wanted to leave - and we didn't even go to the beach such was the excitement of doing and seeing everything else (also didn't visit any touristic spots, but danced a lot of samba, forró and heard awesome bossa nova)!

Rio it's a beautiful destination.
Rio it's a beautiful destination. But you have to be careful. It's better in low season. Highly recommend to visit other beaches, and for a couple of days, specially because of the rain.
Enjoy.

Nothing. It wan an absolute nightmare. The house keeping only came every day to make the bed and go. They didn't even sweep the floor or clean the bathroom. it was so disgusting. Couldn't even give us tissue for the toilet. what a disgrace. This place should be shut down. I have come a few times to Rio and stayed in Copacabana palace hotel, Miramar by Windsor, JW Marriott Hotel Rio de JaneiroCopacabana, Sofitel Rio De Janeiro Ipanema and NEVER have I BEEN treated soooo POORLY.
The hotel is an incredibly beautiful structure, with lovely areas and an amazing rooftop bar / pool with views of Copacabana and Ipanema. The room was also huge and with an amazing view of the sea. Staff is really nice.
The location is also a non-problem - if you are concerned about it, don't be. I went up and down the street multiple times by myself and didn't feel unsafe in the slightest.
Room was perfect for our needs, grand size, nice bed and bathroom and a few English speaking channels on the TV. We booked the apartment with side sea view option and the view from the small balcony was unbelievable. Our room was on the 9th floor fyi. Views from the rooftop were also outrageous and the pool is bigger than most other Copacabana / ipanema hotels.
Good hotel in posto 5 Copacabana, within walking distance from Ipanema. Safe area. Helpful staff. Hotel transfer/taxi available. Nice midum size swimming pool on 16th floor. Ask for a room with sea view. Excellent restaurant and 24 hours room service. Modern and clean bathroom. Modern lifts.Highly recommend.
A very well located hotel in the heart of Rio de Janeiro and so close to Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. The staff were all great, especially Tadeu - we had stayed here a couple of weeks before and amazingly he remembered us and welcomed us very warmly. First class service!
