Angra is a good place to stay for 1-3 days before going to Ilha Grande. If you stay in an apartment in Piratas Mall, as we did, you are 5 blocks away from the Bus station, where you can take a bus to Paraty. And also 25 minutes away from the Port, Santa Lucia, where you can buy excursions to the islands, which are beautiful. I did not go to the beach in Angra, just took a boat excursion (excellent) and went to Paraty.

Paradise started here!
Paradise started here! I guess there is no other description to the place. Where can I start it? Its millions of islands and beaches with foaming greenish water? The forest that ends up right at the beach? Or all the fauna you can find just swimming in ANY beach (like turtles, fish, crabs, corals, you name it!) This place is just wonderful!

Angra is beautiful and i have coming here for family visits...
Angra is beautiful and i have coming here for family visits for 10 years, but crime has hit Angra bad and i am scared to return. Many special forces, BOP, and police lined the streets. With the pacification of Rio for Olymipics and world cup, angra got the worst of the people.
- best receptionist (Eliselma), giving so many cool adventure hints and speaks veeery good french. Many special thanks to her as she was so helpful to make our day excursions perfect.

- calm and beautiful outside area
- supermarket and restaurants just next to the hotel
The staff were extremely helpful (they didn't speak any English but we got away with Spanish) and offered us a room with a sea view at no extra charge! The best part about this hotel is the pool area and the view across the bay. Free kayak and snorkeling too! Breakfast was good, Drinks were great!
Turtles everywhere, all the time. Kayak for free is also a big plus!

For those saying that there are too many stairs, yes there are, but every other place in Angra dos Reis is the same as you're on a hill and next to the water.
The Place, The Location, The Room, The View, Food, Everything ! The Hotel staffs were very friendly. Very clean environment and a peaceful place. It was beyond our expectation and we will definitely go again !
